Da Nang takes drastic action to ensure traffic safety during National Day Holiday

Functional forces in Da Nang will increase patrols and strengthen road traffic enforcement to take action against traffic violations in an effort to ensure traffic safety during the upcoming National Day Holiday.

Da Nang People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh has asked the Municipal Traffic Safety Board to raise awareness and promote public advocacy on road safety. The heed should be paid to launch the awareness campaign to encourage road users to exercise care and consideration under the motto "If you drink, don't drive!, not use a cell phone while driving, strictly obey traffic rules. In addition, the importance should be attached to taking all necessary measures to prevent accidents on steep roads, mountain roads, railway crossings and inland waterways during the holiday.

Police officers will impose hash punishments on serious traffic offenses that are leading causes of road collisions and traffic congestion. Including are driving over the speed limit, driving under the influence of alcohol, overloading in passenger vehicles, overloading trucks, runing in the wrong lane, wrong-way driving.

Special attention will be paid to cracking down on the unlawful pick-ups or drop-offs, and illegal coaches that operated without permission on main streets. Proactive measures will be taken to strictly handling and stop public order offences, illegal street racing, and assaults on law enforcement officers.

Inspections of sighseeing boats will be strengthened while strict punishments will be imposed on violations of safety rules on inland waterways. In addition, stringent measures will be put in place to deal with violation of traffic safety at railways, rail crossings.

Officers should be available at key and complex intersections to regulate and guide traffic during peak hours to prevent traffic jams. The Da Nang Department of Transport will take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of passengers of trains, bus/coach and planes during the holiday.

The Municipal Department of Education and Training and the University of Da Nang will launch the campaign entitled ‘Peak Traffic Safety Month for Students Going to School’ in September. The focus will be on educating school pupils and university students and raising safety awareness while driving motorbikes, electric scooters and bikes.
