Trade - service sector in Da Nang records impressive growth
Data provided by the Da Nang Statistics Bureau show that the total retail sales of consumer goods and services across the city in July were estimated at VND10,963 billion, up 7.6% against June and up 110.4% over the same month last year.
As accumulated in the first seven months of the year, the total retail sales of consumer goods and services hit VND60,996 billion, a rise of 27.7% over the same period in 2021.
Particularly, the total retail sales of goods in July reached nearly VND5,878 billion, up 5.1% over the previous month and up 38.6% over the same month last year. In which, the retail sales in supermarkets citywide were estimated at VND261 billion, an increase of 8% over the previous month and up 52.8% over the same period last year.
Thanks to the strong recovery of the city’s economy, the prices of many commodities fluctuated due to a surge in input material prices pushing up production costs, forcing businesses to adjust their consumption prices.
Compared to the previous month, all 12 groups of retail products achieved positive growth. Some product groups recorded an increase which is higher than the general average, including household appliances, garments, automobiles of all kinds, food and other goods.
As accumulated in the January - July period, the retail sales of goods were estimated at VND37,481 billion, up 12.2% over the same period in 2021.
Notably, 9 out of the 11 commodity groups saw a significant increase in revenue compared to the same period in 2021. In particular, a number of groups recorded faster growth in the earnings such as gems, precious metals and products, garments, gasoline, oil of all kinds, cultural and educational products, and food and foodstuffs.
Total wholesale of goods continued to maintain its recovery momentum. The total merchandise wholesale volume in July was estimated at more than VND12,766 billion, up 2.1% over the previous month and up 31.4% over the same month of the year before.
Generally, in the first seven months of 2022, the total wholesale of goods generated VND 87,407 billion, up 12.6% over the same period.
The hike in wholesale revenue of some commodity groups was mainly due to the increase in the cost of some products as a result of a rise in raw material prices, the shortage of production components, and the recent appreciation of the U.S. dollar.
