Given the fact that the market is recovering strongly, and the demand for shopping at the end of the year will be on rise, since the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2022, production businesses, especially food producers, have planned to boost production, stockpile goods, and find suitable sources of raw materials to offer competitive prices and reduce pressure on consumers.

Mrs. Do Ngoc Hoa, a kindergarten teacher residing in Ngu Hanh Son District said that income has not increased, but the prices of consumer goods are on rise, so her family has to tighten the budget in order to prepare for the Tet Festival 2023.

“However, such essential items as pork, chicken, eggs, cooking oil and rice are compulsory products to be used and spent, so I hope the State will take more effective measures to control prices so as to create favourable conditions for low-income workers" said Mrs. Hoa.

Currently, the sharp decrease in the price of live pigs creates a good opportunity for many food manufacturers to access input materials to produce output sources for the year-end peak shopping season.

As one of the food production and distribution enterprises in the city, the Vissan JSC has grasped the shopping trend and started to stockpile for the year-end peak shopping season.

According to a Vissan representative, as for the Da Nang market, in the fourth quarter of the year, the unit has prepared VND 55 billion for storing 600 tonnes of goods.

The unit plans to offer 400 tonnes of goods, equivalent to VND42 billion, for the upcoming Tet Festival, an increase of 15% in volume and 12% in capital over the same period last year.

On the other hand, in the context of economic difficulties, this year's Lunar New Year, consumers are likely to keep a tight grip on budget spending, so they will pay more attention to commodity prices, especially food items. Therefore, the unit has planned to implement promotional programmes for both fresh and processed foods. Notably, up to 25% discount will be offered on processed products.

“For many years, we have always participated in the price stabilisation programmes even for fresh products and always implemented the demand stimulus programmes from time to time and for each item and category.

In particular, in the last days of the lunar year (the 28th to 30th days of the 12th lunar month), Vissan will have a shocking discount programme for consumers when shopping for fresh food" added the representative.

Besides meat products, eggs are also popular products at the end of the year. The Da Nang branch of the C.P JSC is one of the units that distribute level 1 industrial eggs to many large supermarkets in the city.

The representative of the company said that a daily average of 30,000 - 40,000 eggs, and 2,500 - 3,000 broiler chickens, are supplied to Da Nang market.

The representative confirmed that the unit currently ensures the adequate supply for the market, and maintains a moderate increase to not have a great impact on consumers.

In general, city-based food production and business companies have completed the preparations to ensure the supply of goods for the market from now until Tet Festival 2023.

On the other hand, such major retailers as Co.opmart, MM Mega Market and Lotte Mart have also completed the plan to stock up on supplies.

Head of the Marketing Department of the Co.opmart Da Nang Supermarket Nguyen Dac Thuan informed that, in the last quarter of the year, his supermarket will increase the volume of goods by 30% compared to the previous quarters, especially that of the essential food group by 40%.

In addition to the group of items registered under the city’s price stabilisation programme, the supermarket will prepare processed food and regional specialties, as well as promote online sales activities.

Meanwhile, a representative of the Lotte Mart Da Nang said that it is forecasted that consumer demand for goods in the last months of the year will increase sharply, so the unit has actively stocked up on abundant goods, an increase of 60% compared to the same period last year.

Till date, the municipal Department of Industry and Trade has asked commercial centres, supermarkets, and the Company for Developing and Managing Da Nang Markets to report on their stockpiling and items to be sold under the price stabilisation programme as well.
