The toy market in Da Nang ahead of the Halloween Festival is becoming more bustling after two quiet years due to the impact of COVID-19. The city has witnessed a sharp increase in the number of customers who have visited toy and gift shops to buy decorative items and costumes.

In recent days, shops specialising in selling Halloween merchandise in the city have been crowded with shoppers

Since mid-October, bookstores and shops specialising in selling Halloween merchandise located on such downtown streets as Phan Chau Trinh, Hung Vuong, Le Dinh Ly and Le Duan have been crowded with shoppers.

Although Halloween, the most anticipated holiday of October, originates from Western culture, it is welcomed by many Vietnamese people.

In these days, schools citywide are filled with Halloween decorations with different colors.

According to our reporters’ survey, clothes for Halloween are priced at between VND30,000 - VND450,000 depending on products, size and materials. This year, the prices of Halloween toys and accessories have slightly increased compared to last year.

Pumpkin lamps, which are on sale at the prices of VND30,000 - VND50,000 each, and witch hats being offered at the prices of VND30,000 - VND100,000 each, are amongst the best-sellers.

In addition, there are a wide range of costumes for cartoon characters, including capes being sold at VND30,000 - VND100,000/set; and superman costumes and princess dresses at VND200,000 - VND300,000/set.

Ms. Pham Thi Kim Khanh, the owner of a shop on Tran Tong Street, Thac Gian Ward, Thanh Khe District, said that this year, her shop has seen a significant increase in the number of shoppers compared to previous years. The majority of them are students. As of the evening of October 29, most of the store’s Halloween decoration products were sold out.

Likewise, the Fahasa Bookstore, Go! Supermarket, Winmart convenient stores, and Co.op Mart are offering a wide range of exciting discount and promotion programmes.

Similarly, Halloween costumes in a variety of designs and prices are on sale on e-commerce platforms.

Pumpkin related products are highly sought by customers.

Witch hats and capes are also of interest to consumers.
