Da Nang transport sector gears up achieving annual plan targets

Since the start of 2022, the Da Nang transportation sector has completed many targets that have been many attributed to the drastic and comprehensive direction and management of the Da Nang government and the synchronous participation of relevant agencies.

As announced by Mr. Le Thanh Hung, the Director of the Management Board of Priority Infrastructure Investment Projects in Da Nang, the construction units are focusing on speeding up construction progress and solving site clearance problems to serve as a basis to accelerate the disbursement of key and motivational projects.

Outstanding among them are Khe Can sewer line, West Ring Road 2, a separate wastewater collection and sewer lines to transfer rain water to the Han River for the basin from Ho Xuan Huong Street to the city’s border with the neighbouring province of Quang Nam.

Engineer Nguyen Van Nhat, who is on duty with Khe Can sewer line project shared: “We are focusing on 5 projects to organise construction overnight to strive to complete the project in 2022 with the highest level of determination”.

During the remaining months of 2022, contractors are highly determined to solve a huge amount of work, especially the completion of projects according to the timeline directed by the local authorities during the rainy and stormy season.

According to Deputy Director in charge of the Da Nang Department of Transport Bui Hong Trung, in the remaining time of the year, his agency will set a sight on implementing a number of key tasks such as speeding up the construction progress of ongoing parking lots, organising bidding for 5 subsidised intra-city bus routes in Phase 2 (2022 - 2027) and evaluating the effectiveness of bus routes as well.

In parallel with the aforementioned tasks, solutions will be taken to improve the efficiency of management and exploitation of traffic infrastructure and make plans to exploit the Song Han Port and continue to restore international routes connecting Da Nang with other parts worldwide.

Also, special attention should be paid to promptly removing the existing difficulties and obstacles and bringing key and motivational projects to the finish line such as the Western Ring Road, section from national highway 14B to Ho Chi Minh Street, DH2 route, upgrading the DT601 Street and Tuyen Son - Tuy Loan riverside route.

In the ongoing fourth quarter of 2022, emphasis will be on upgrading a section of National Highway 14B that runs through Da Nang and implementing important national transport projects of regional nature such as the Lien Chieu Port project, the Hoa Lien - Tuy Loan Expressway, the relocation of the railway station out of the city centre, building a cargo terminal of 100,000 tonnes/year at the Da Nang International Airport, the Hoa Nhon Logistics Centre and developing a specialised urban transport plan in line with the adjustments to the Da Nang Master Plan for its major developments by 2030, with a vision towards 2045.

According to Mr. Le Van Lam, the Chief of Office of the Traffic Safety Committee, in the coming time, a heed will be given to ensuring traffic order and safety, handling potential traffic accident-prone spots and imposing a ban on parking either on odd dates or even dates and ensure transport and urban order.

Last, but not least, competent local agencies will closely inspect the operation of tourist boats on inland waterway traffic routes and minimise damage to traffic infrastructure caused by storms.
