Rail tickets for Lunar New Year 2023 launched

Rail tickets for the Lunar New Year 2023 across Viet Nam are now available, according to the railway sector. There are many ways to buy tickets for train travel on the Vietnamese rail network, including at the station nationwide, the Internet where you can buy tickets, train ticket booking agents, or through your mobile device.

The railway sector started selling railway tickets for the 2023 Lunar New Year, or Tet holiday which begins on January 21, at 8:00am on Tuesday to serve the rising travel demand of passengers during this peak season.

The Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR) published the latest results at 4:30pm on Tuesday, October 25 revealing that there had been sold a total of 22,634 tickets for travel on the Vietnamese rail network for the upcoming Tet holiday, of which, 417 had been sold in Da Nang.

Customers find it easier and more convenient to buy Tet rail tickets as compared with last year as more ticket booths have been opened while customers can get a waiting number to buy Tet tickets via railway switchboard. The Da Nang Railway Station sees fewer number of Tet ticket buyers this year compared to the previous years as online rail ticket booking is available for passengers, making it more convenient for them to buy rail tickets from home.

To purchase tickets online, please visit the following websites: www.saigonrailway.com.vn, www.facebook.com/duongsatsg, www.dsvn.vn. By phone tickets for Tet holiday may be purchased by calling ticket offices at 02363.823.810 – 02363.574.002 in Da Nang, 02353.828.488 in Tam Ky, Quang Nam Province, 02553.820.727 in Quang Ngai Province.

VNR said that rail fares for the upcoming Tet Holiday on average increased by 4.5% from the corresponding period last year due to increases in the fuel price. Great deals are being offered for buying advance tickets, return tickets and group tickets .High priority is given to target groups, including workers in industrial parks, school pupils, college students, military personnel and members of social organizations.

VNR will release 176,046 tickets for the Lunar New Year 2023 to travel on 356 trains, an increase of 67,000 compared to the same period a year ago. VNR will add 10 more pairs of trains between Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), bringing the total passenger trains to 22 pairs before and after Tet. Trains for the Lunar New Year 2023 will run from January 9, 2023 to February 5, 2023.

12 pairs of trains will run daily on the North – South route connecting Ha Noi and HCMC. In detail, there will be six pairs of trains namely SE1/SE2, SE3/SE4, SE5/SE6, SE7/SE8, SE9/SE10, SE11/ SE12 operating on  the Ha Noi - HCMC route. The Ha Noi - Vinh route will see two pairs of trains namely NA1/NA2, SE35/SE36 running while the Da Nang – HCMC route will see trains of SE21/SE22 running. In addition, there will be trains of SQN1/SQN2 operating between Quy Nhon and HCMC, SNT1/SNT2 operating between Nha Trang and HCMC, and SPT1/SPT2  between Phan Thiet  and HCMC.

Further more, VNR will operate 10 additional pairs of trains before and after the Tet holiday. In detail, 4 pairs of trains namely SE19/SE20, SE23/SE24, TN3/TN4, TN5/TN6 will run on the North-South route connecting Ha Noi and HCMC. Besides, there will be trains of SE13/SE14, SE15/SE16 running between Vinh and HCMC, SE17/SE18 running between Dong Hoi and HCMC, SE25/SE26 running between Quang Ngai and HCMC.

Moreover, trains SNT12/7501 will run between Nha Trang and HCMC before Tet while trains 7502/SNT11 will run on this route after Tet.
