Over 15 million tonnes of oil equivalent (TOE) were saved as a result of the effective implementation of the Viet Nam Energy Efficiency Programme (VNEEP) during the 2006-2015 period.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Mai, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade relieved the information at a Wednesday seminar entitled ‘Raising awareness about energy-saving solutions for Da Nang-based businesses in 2022’.

Under the Viet Nam Energy Efficiency Programme for the 2019-2030 period, Da Nang sets a target to save 5-7% of the total annual electricity consumption by 2025 and 8 -10% for the whole period, equivalent to about 60 million tonnes of oil equivalent.

Currently, businesses operating in Da Nang have been actively managing and improving the efficiency of energy use in production and business activities by investing in solar power and solar hot water systems, managing central pneumatic control system, and converting a refrigeration system for refrigeration compressor systems from R-22 gas to NH3 ammonia.

During the event, the speakers shared about monitoring and controlling energy consumption and energy saving parameters of air conditioning systems. Meanwhile, businesses exchanged and shared experiences on energy saving solutions.

In addition, the municipal Department of Industry and Trade disseminated a number of legal documents on economical and efficient use of energy in the current period.
