The purpose of the project is to ensure regional traffic and neighbouring residential area connectivity, shorten travel time, and reduce traffic volume on main routes, thereby guaranteeing security, national defence and rescue work in the rainy season and promoting the socio-economic promotion of the western side of Da Nang.

Also, the project helps to add a plan to transport garbage from the city center to the Khanh Son Landfill.

Located in the overall key traffic network on the western side of the city, Le Trong Tan Route is connecting traffic in Hoa Phat and Hoa An wards in Cam Le District with Hoa Minh and Hoa Khanh Nam wards in Lien Chieu District, and Hoa Son, Hoa Ninh and Hoa Bac communes in Hoa Vang District with the La Son - Tuy Loan expressway. This is also the traffic axis connecting the east-west direction with a part of the radial road through Da Nang urban area in the new period.

Particularly, a section of extended Le Trong Tan route between its intersections with the Phuoc Ly 6 Resettlement Area and Hoang Van Thai Street belongs to Hoa Khanh Nam Ward, Hoa Minh Ward, Lien Chieu District.

The project is carried out on an area of 28,307m2. It borders the University of Physical Education and Sports, the city’s People's Police Training and Retraining Center, the Nursing Center for Patients with Mental Problems, and the Resettlement Area No. 2 serving the expansion of the University of Physical Education and Sports to northeast; military land and the SHB Da Nang Football Training Center to southwest; the Phuoc Ly 6 Resettlement Area to southeast; and Barrack 409 and Hoang Van Thai Street to northwest.

The route has a length of 1,395km with its starting point intersecting with Le Trong Tan Street and the ending point intersecting with Tran Duc Street.

The development of technical infrastructure system, including water supply, lighting, sidewalks, trees and relocation of power supply system, and the construction of retaining walls at positions with elevation difference with residential areas on both sides of the route greater than 0.5m, have been already completed.

According to the Management Board of Traffic Work Investment and Construction Projects, the construction cost of the project is expected to be over VND110 billion funded by the city budget.

Of this figure, VND35 billion will be spent on compensation and resettlement support work, VND 40.7 billion on after-tax construction and installation, VND 57.4 billion on compensation and site clearance work, and VND5.1 billion on project management and consulting. The remainder will be backup costs.

Particularly, the work of site clearance and resettlement is estimated by the Lien Chieu District People's Committee. Specifically, the cost of compensation for houses, architectural objects, trees and crops will be an estimate of above VND 57.4 billion.

It is expected that resettlement will be arranged for 72 urban land plots. The Lien Chieu District authorities plan to arrange resettlement in the following projects: Phuoc Ly 6 resettlement area, Hoa My residential area, residential area west of Nguyen Huy Tuong Street, Foodinco resettlement area, Khanh Son resettlement area, and residential area on Hoang Van Thai Street.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Huy, Director of the Management Board of Traffic Work Investment and Construction Projects, said that on November 10, the unit sent the project file to the municipal Department of Natural Resources and Environment to collect comments from the community on environmental impact assessment. The Management Board is also coordinating with relevant units to carry out site clearance, bidding, and construction supervision.

Regarding project implementation progress, the project preparation phase, the completion of investment project formulation, and the design and construction of technical infrastructure work last from January 2021 to December 2022. The project's technical infrastructure construction and completion phase will be 22 months from January 2023 to October 24.

Many residents also expressed their wish that the project would be completed soon to facilitate travel.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tinh excitedly said that the extension of Le Trong Tan route meets the aspirations of residents in the area for a long time by breaking the dead-end road so that travel to Hoa Vang District or the northern wards of Lien Chieu District will be very convenient.

“I hope the road will soon be constructed and completed to connect traffic and develop urban areas at the foot of the Phuoc Tuong Mountain” added he.
