Railway sector to run extra train services into Central Viet Nam for Lunar New Year 2023

In its efforts to manage the extra rush of passengers in the upcoming Lunar New Year 2023 (Tet Festival), Vietnamese railways will operate additional train services connecting to destinations across Central Viet Nam.

The Hanoi Railway Transport JSC announced that additional 1,700 tickets will be offered to passengers in its Northern Rail train services to get from the Saigon, Bien Hoa and Di An stations to such central region destinations as Quang Ngai, Da Nang and Hue from January 14 – 19, 2023 (from the 23rd to  the 28th days of the 12th month of lunar calendar).

The Southern Sai Gon Railway Transport JSC (Saratrans) will run extra train services in its Southern train line connecting with destinations in Central Viet Nam before and afterTet.

The Saigon - Quang Ngai route will see SE26 and SE25 trains running. SE26 will  leave from the Saigon Station at 9:45 am on January 14, 16, and 18, 2023 (the 23rd, 25th, and 27th days of the 12th month of lunar calendar ),and arrive at the Quang Ngai Station at 4:59 pm on the following days while SE25 will depart from the Quang Ngai Station at 8:00 am on January 26, 28 and 30, 2023 (the 5th , 7th , and 9th of the 1st Lunar Month), and arrive at the Saigon Station at 2:24 pm on the following days.

As for the Saigon - Quy Nhon route, SQN2 train will leave from the Saigon Station at 7:55pm on January 13, and 14, 2023 (the 22nd and 23rd days of the 12th month of lunar calendar), and arrive at the Quy Nhon Station at 9:43am on the following days.

Previously, Saratrans had announced that additional more than 3,000 tickets would be offered for train services connecting Sai Gon, Bien Hoa and Di An stations to such central region destinations as Tuy Hoa, Dieu Tri, Quang Ngai, and Da Nang from January 9 – 20, 2023 (from the 18th to 29th days of the 12th lunar month).

Railway sector’s discount program is also applied on fares for social policy beneficiaries, trade union members, card holders in its extra train services during Tet. A 3% discount applies to fares for trains departing from the Saigon Station on January 20, 2023 (the 29th day of the 12th lunar month) and passengers travelling within the distance of 1,000km or more get 3% off the price of train fares. When buying return tickets, a 5% discount is given off regular prices. This offer is given for traveling in trains during Tet. Especially, college students are eligible for a discount up to 20% off the price of their train ticket purchase.
