Some businesses in Da Nang have temporarily suspended their operations or interrupted their operations, forcing them to lay off their workers due to a lack of production orders. However, many manufacturing businesses need more workers, especially seasonal employees.

According to the Authority of the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Parks (IPs), in December, 11 manufacturing companies located in IPs are in need of more than 700 workers with job opportunities in such fields as sewing, mechanical engineering, component assembly, and electrical maintenance. They offer monthly salary ranging from VND 5-10 million for these jobs. For example, Fujikura Automotive Viet Nam Company Limited located in Hoa Cam IP, Cam Le District that specialises in manufacturing wiring devices is recruiting 300 new male and female workers while Memco Medical Equipment and Supplies Joint Stock Company located in Hoa Cam IP is looking for 20 new garment workers and additional 25 male and female unskilled workers.

In Lien Chieu District, Kane-M Da Nang Company Limited located in Hoa Khanh IP is seeking 50 more garment workers while Kad Industrial S.A Vietnam Company Limited located in Expanded Hoa Khanh IP is seeking 10 new garment workers with an attractive monthly salary of VND 10-12 million offered for these jobs. A typical benefits package includes fuel and house rent allowances, performance bonus, a Saturday off every month, social and health insurance, and unemployment insurance.

To prepare for production orders at the end of the year, Mrs Nguyen Thi Thu Trang, a representative of the Hoa Tho Textile and Garment Joint Stock Corporation said that the company is announcing the recruitment of about 150 new employees aged 18-35, with attractive monthly salary offered for them.

The company posted a first 9 month revenue of estimated VND 3,975 billion, up 49% compared with the corresponding period last year, achieving 95% of the year’s target. In addition to exporting to key traditional markets, the company is targeting new export markets in order to expand its business in different markets and prepare all necessary conditions to enjoy preferential trade benefits under trade agreements that Viet Nam has signed and joined.

"We are seeking new employees to ensure timely deliveries as our production orders from now until the end of the year and in the first quarter of 2023 have been already signed," remarked Mrs. Trang.

Close monitoring of the payment of salaries and Tet bonus by businesses for new employees

According to the city’s socio-economic report in November and 11 months of 2022, the city held 4 job sessions in November, attracting 388 recruiters and 17,545 job seekers. As a result, job opportunities were offered to 161 people. Overall, employment opportunities were created for 2,388 people across the city’s economic sectors, including 1,672 new jobs.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Diep, the Deputy Director of the Da Nang Employment Service Center under the Municipal Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs stated that the most recent job fair took place on December 9, bringing together 91 recruiters to offer 5,519 job opportunities. It proved that the recruitment demand from local businesses was still high but only around 100 job seekers applied to job postings at this event. There is quite contradictory to Da Nang as there were a lot of laid off workers from a number of businesses that have temporarily suspended their operations or interrupted their operations due to a lack of production orders. However, they did not seek job opportunities at this job fair as they have yet to adapt to changes in the labour market.

In its efforts to connect job seekers with recruiters, the Da Nang Employment Service Center will work with authorities at local level to organize weekly online job fairs. This model will be further promoted in 2023. In addition, online job fairs will be held to connect with recruiters from elsewhere in central localities and Central Highlands.

From December 28 -30, the Da Nang Employment Service Center will coordinate with the Trade Union Organization of the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Park to hold a trade fair and a job fair for trade union members and workers on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2023, thereby helping laid off workers who lost their jobs at the end of the year find a new job.

Mr. Nguyen Duy Minh, the Chairman of the municipal Labour Federation, said that the focus will be on conducting close monitoring of the payment of salaries and appropriate Tet bonuses for newly-recruited employees by local businesses. Heed will be paid to ensuring that workers enjoy a warm and happy Tet in line with the municipal Labour Federation’s plan.

Besides, the municipal Labour Federation will work with the municipal Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs to urge local businesses to announce their plans to pay salaries, bonuses, and offer employee benefits, as well as announce Tet Holiday break for their employees as soon as possible in accordance with the labour contracts signed between employees and employers, and their companies's regulations in order to make sure that these payments are in full and conducted in time according to their agreements.

41 job sessions held in 11 months

Over the past 11 months, the city held 41 job sessions in total, bringing together 4,616 recruiters with 234,394 job opportunities offered. As a result, 3,489  employees were hired by local businesses. Overall, employment opportunities were created for 34,200 people across the city’s economic sectors during the 11-month period, including 25,200 new jobs.
