VITM Da Nang 2022 kicks off
The Viet Nam International Travel Mart 2022 (VITM 2022) officially opened in Da Nang on Friday morning.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Doan Van Viet, Director General of Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee Ngo Thi Kim Yen, and Chairman of the Viet Nam Tourism Association Vu The Binh made their attendance at the opening ceremony of the event.
In her opening speech, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairwoman Ngo Thi Kim Yen remarked 2022 marked the return and recovery of the tourism industry of the country in general and Da Nang in particular after a 2-year hiatus triggered by COVID-19.
She added, this year, Da Nang has successfully hosted a series of special national and international-level events and festivals, plus other diverse activities, significantly contributing to promoting the city’s images and destinations to visitors at both home and abroad.
VITM Da Nang 2022, held for the first time in Da Nang, shows the great efforts made by the municipal government, the Viet Nam Tourism Association, the Da Nang Tourism Association and the business community to boost tourism recovery, she noted.
“We hope that VITM Da Nang 2022 will provide great opportunities for businesses and their partners to connect business cooperation, and to promote and introduce tourist destinations and services around the country. As for Da Nang, the event is an opportunity to introduce the beauty of its land, people and socio-economic achievements in general, along with its special attraction in particular, to friends and tourists from all over the country and the world” Mrs. Yen underscored.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Doan Van Viet acknowledged and highly appreciated the initiative, positivity and efforts of the event organisers. He affirmed that VITM Da Nang 2022 will be a professional playground, creating more opportunities for tourism businesses, destinations and localities in Central Viet Nam, and across the country as a whole, to meet, capture information and seek cooperation opportunities in the new period.
He emphasized that theme of ‘Sea and Island Tourism - The Strength of Viet Nam's Tourism’ was consistent with the orientation and advantages of tourism development of Da Nang and some central coastal localities. Under Prime Minister-approved Viet Nam's tourism development strategy to 2030, sea and island tourism is one of the four main product lines of Viet Nam's tourism.
Deputy Minister Viet took the opportunity to ask localities as well as businesses to promote market reconnection, cooperation and development of new products; attract and exchange visitors between localities and destinations; enhance the quality of workforce in tourism sector; and innovate tourism promotion activities.

Held from December 9 - 11, VITM Da Nang 2022 gathers the participation of 350 guests. 150 of them come from 11 foreign countries worldwide, and the remaining 200 domestic guests are from 25 provinces and cities across the country.
