Right from the early morning, the busy trading ambience was reported at the Man Thai wet market in the namesake ward, Son Tra District. Flowers, fruits, vegetables, tubers, sticky rice, betel nuts and arecas were among the best-sellers.

Nguyen Thi Chung, a resident of Man Thai Ward, said her family has already completed the preparations for Lunar New Year 2023. “This morning, I went to the local wet market at 7:00am to buy more betel nuts, arecas and fruits to make a five-fruit tray because I'm afraid the market will close soon” she said.

According to Head of the Management Board of the Con Market Phan Thanh Thoai, products on sale at the market were very diverse, meeting the shopping needs of locals. The number of visitors to the market in recent 10 days slightly increased compared to normal days. However, compared to the same period last year, the purchasing power was quieter, the price did not have many fluctuations.

"The management board regularly cooperates with relevant units to check and control commodity prices, as well as ensure food safety, security and order, fire prevention and fighting, at the market” Mr. Thoai added.

Meanwhile, the purchasing power rose sharply in the past few days at the Go! Supermarket. During the peak days, the supermarket welcomes a daily average of 25,000 customers.

Ms. Vo Thi Thu Thuy, Director of the GO! Supermarket, remarked, in the last days of the lunar year, customers often chose to buy fresh items and offerings such as fruits, meat, fish, and sausages. Many items had a strong increase in sales volume.

Compared to the same period last year, the average purchasing power increased by 34%. According to the plan, the supermarket closed at 2:00pm this afternoon and will reopen at 10:00 am on January 23 (the 2nd day of Tet).
