The upgrade of a section of Ngo Quyen - Ngu Hanh Son route between its intersections with Vo Van Kiet to Ho Xuan Huong streets is underway. Currently, construction units are making every effort to complete the upgrade work before September 2, 2023.

The upgrade of the Ngo Quyen Street - Ngu Hanh Son route at second stage is underway

According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Huy, Director of the Da Nang Management Board of Traffic Construction Investment Projects, in July 2019, the Da Nang People's Committee gave the green light to the upgrade of the Ngo Quyen - Ngu Hanh Son route with a cost of VND189.48 billion in order to limit road traffic accidents caused by tractors and trucks carrying freight in and out of the Tien Sa Port.

The first stage of the project on upgrading a 5km section of Ngo Quyen Street between its intersections with Nguyen Phan Vinh and Vo Van Kiet streets at a total cost of nearly VND79 billion was already completed and opened to traffic in 2022.

Meanwhile, the second stage of the project on upgrading a 2.7km section of the Ngo Quyen - Ngu Hanh Son route between its intersections with Vo Van Kiet and Ho Xuan Huong streets is underway.

According to a consortium consisting of the Trung Nam Construction and Machinery Erection JSC, the Nhat Huy Construction and Trading Co.Ltd., the An Nguyen Environment Co.Ltd., and the Hai Phong Electric and Lighting JSC, the project is implemented by the method of both construction and exploitation with a fairly large traffic density, especially heavy trucks and container trucks, so some complicated items have to be constructed at night. However, the consortium is committed to speeding up the upgrade work and put the section into use before September 2, 2023.

It is known that the 2^nd stage of the project focuses on removing all existing concrete median strips and creating new ones with assembled reinforced concrete structures, asphalting the road surface, and placing the existing manholes underground. Also, overhead power and telecommunications cables are replaced by underground ones.

After more than a month of construction, the work of dismantling concrete median strips along Vo Van Kiet and Nguyen Van Thoai streets, and the relocation of green trees on the whole route, have almost been completed.

At the Ngo Quyen - Nguyen Van Thoai - Ngu Hanh Son intersection, roads to turn right into frontage roads have been widened and have surface asphalted. The installation of signal lights is being made.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Huy said, currently, the asphalting of road surface near the intersection of Nguyen Van Thoai - Ngo Quyen streets has been completed. The preparation of equipment for the installation of signal lights is underway and the installation is expected to be completed before April 30.

The similar items at the intersection of Vo Van Kiet - Ngo Quyen streets are predicted to be completed before April 20. Particularly, the removal of concrete median strips and the installation of new ones along a section of the Ngo Quyen - Ngu Hanh Son route between its intersections with Vo Van Kiet and Nguyen Van Thoai streets are expected to be completed in May 2023.

A section of the route from Nguyen Van Thoai to Ho Xuan Huong streets is expected to be deployed from May to August 2023.

"With the current weather and construction atmosphere, we are committed to completing the project before September 2, 2023” Mr. Nguyen Minh Huy said.
