As many as 200 representatives of organisations and businesses across Da Nang attended a seminar entitled ‘Da Nang Human Resources: A New Picture for a New Strategy’ held in the city on Tuesday.

The event was jointly organised by the Talentnet Corporation and the branch of the American Chamber of Commerce in Da Nang (AmCham Da Nang).

The one-day seminar featured discussion about the prospects of Viet Nam's economy after pandemic, and challenges and opportunities of employees and human resource managers in Viet Nam. Also, there was a talk show on the business picture in Da Nang.

Mr. Chris Valoon, the Chairman of Amcham Da Nang, pointed out the three biggest challenges for the development of businesses in Da Nang in particular and in Viet Nam in general. They were supply chains, infrastructure and human resources.

Mrs. Le Thi Nam Phuong, the Chairwoman of the Da Nang Women Entrepreneurs' Association, acknowledged that difficulties in human resources facing enterprises came from the requirements of reorganisation and transformation of working models in order to adapt to the changing situation.

She added the career choice of workers is more emotional. Specifically, individuality is a prominent issue that businesses need to pay attention to when managing human resources because each generation has different personalities, values and needs.

Mr. Le Hoang Phuc, the Deputy Director of the Da Nang Investment Promotion Agency, said that Da Nang boasted many advantages of its favourable geographical position, being the gateway to the East-West economic corridor, and being a centre in Central Viet Nam and Highlands regions. Besides, the city has been always focusing on implementing support policies for enterprises.

General Director of Talentnet Corporation Tieu Yen Trinh remarked that changing mindset is the most fundamental change. If business leaders have a determination to change, they can restructure the business, help workers change their minds and seize opportunities.

She informed that three key HR trends this year will be the application of information technology to management, flexible working policy and employee engagement through corporate culture.

Building a human resource strategy based on technology, cultural flexibility will be the key for Vietnamese enterprises, including those in Da Nang, in order to attract and retain talents, she added.
