The state-owned Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR) has announced that train tickets have been on sale for trains on the North- South route to meet increasing travel demand of passengers during the upcoming National Reunification Day (April 30) and Labour Day (May 1) holidays.

Discounts are applied on advance train tickets for forthcoming public holiday of April 30 and May 1, and summer months

One-way North-South tickets have been on sale on two pairs of Thong Nhat trains: SE3/SE4 and SE7/SE8 on the Ho Chi Minh City – Ha Noi route, on SE21/SE22 trains on the Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang route, on SNT1/SNT2 trains on the Ho Chi Minh City - Nha Trang route, and SPT1/SPT2 trains on the Ho Chi Minh City - Phan Thiet route.

Rail passengers are getting great deals by booking advance tickets with Viet Nam’s Southern trains, according to the Southern Sai Gon Railway Transport JSC (Saratrans). Accordingly, 5,000 tickets have gone on sale for a number of seats and beds on certain trains on Viet Nam’s Southern train line, discounted by 20%. To get the discounted prices you have to book from 8:00 a.m. on March 28 through April 23, and travel between April 1 and April 26. You can save 5% on rail fares when buying an advance ticket 3 days or more ahead of travel.

Saratrans is applying the discount program to advance tickets for individual passengers who travel on SE3/4 trains on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays for distances of 400km or over, and on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays for distances of 500km or over, on the Saigon – Ha Noi route. In addition, discounts are applied on advance train tickets for those who travel on SE7/8 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays for distances of 400km or over, and on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays for distances of 500km or over, on the same route.

At the same time, Saratrans also applies the discount program to advance tickets for individual passengers who travel on SE21/22 trains on the Saigon - Da Nang route for distances of 400km or over, on SNT1/2 trains on the Nha Trang - Saigon route for distances of 250 km or over, on SPT1/2 trains on the Phan Thiet - Saigon routes for distances of 150 km or over.

Besides, rail tickets have also gone on sale for trains linking Ho Chi Minh City with central and northern localities for the peak summer travel season .

The railway sector will continue to sell tickets for additional trains departing from Ho Chi Minh City to Phan Thiet, Nha Trang, Quy Nhon, Da Nang and Ha Noi after seeing a rise in passenger numbers.

Between May 18 and August 20, the railway sector will apply the discount program to passengers who are Vietnamese heroic mothers, wounded soldiers, older adults, children, school pupils, college students, trade union members, and others. You can get up to a 30% discount for advance tickets to travel on specific trains and times for certain distances while cheap advance fare becomes available farer to the time of travel.
