During his inspection visits to Hoang Tich Tri, Huynh Ly and Luu Quy Ky streets in Hai Chau District, Secretary Quang expressed his delight at newly widened, spacious roads. He also highly praised Hai Chau District for its great effort in piloting the widening of residential roads in combination with synchronously placing power and telecommunication cables underground.

Additionally, Mr. Quang met with residents to listen to their aspirations and suggestions about widening residential roads, including not planting trees on too narrow sidewalks, placing fire hydrants for fire prevention and fighting, and reasonably installing rainwater collection systems to avoid flooding.

In Thanh Khe District, Mr. Quang showed his agreement with the necessity and urgency of expanding 36 roads with a total length of 5.43km at an investment capital of VND81.5 billion as per request of the district authorities.

Municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Le Quang Nam stressed the need for relevant departments and agencies to place power and telecommunication cables underground when widening residential roads in a bid to ensure fire prevention and fighting safety.

He added, currently, 72 roads, with a length of 11.8km, are eligible to be widened, whilst there are more than 50 roads that are not eligible for the widening.

Secretary of the Hai Chau District Party Committee Tran Thang Loi urged construction units to speed up the expansion of residential roads in the summer season. He also asked for support from the municipal authorities to create favourable conditions for placing power and telecommunication cables underground, and installing a wastewater collection system during the road widening, especially a section of Luu Quy Ky Street, south of Phan Dang Luu Street in Hoa Cuong Nam Ward.

Importance should be attached to expanding the southern road in an effort to ensure smooth traffic flows as large-scale events will be organised at the March 29 Square.
