The information was released by municipal Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang at the Friday meeting to review the performance of the local Party Committee's Executive Board in the first quarter of the year, and set out key task for the next quarter.
Secretary Quang emphasised that 2023 is a pivotal year, reaching the halfway mark of implementing the Resolutions of the 13th national Party Congress and the 22nd municipal Party Committee Congress, and the city’s Socio-economic Development Plan during the 2021-2025 period.
Since the beginning of the year, the municipal Party Committee’s Standing Board has directed Party committees, organisations, agencies, localities and units to conduct preliminary reviews and assessments of results, limitations, causes and problems from the beginning of the term until now, as well as drastically implement the theme of 2023 as 'The year focuses on unleashing resources, attracting investment, maintaining economic growth and ensuring social welfare'.
Accordingly, a number of economic sectors have recorded positive growth, making significant contributions to the overall development of the city.
In particular, local tourism saw numerous remarkable achievements, with the total number of guests staying at accommodation establishments being 4.7 times higher than that over the same period last year.
Software exports increased by 32.7%, whilst investment promotion and attraction activities were promoted.
Party building work and the city's political system went into depth. Political security and social order and safety were ensured. The abovementioned results are an important premise for the city to successfully implement the goals and tasks set out in 2023.
Municipal Party Committee Deputy Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet speaking at the meeting on Friday morning |
Continue to propose solutions to effectively implement theme of 2023
The city Party chief Quang assessed that the city still faced many difficulties and limitations. Specifically, industrial production experienced a deep decline, the export market was not favourable, and the number of newly established and resumed enterprises reduced significantly over the same period last year.
Also, the city found it difficult in attracting investment capital; the remaining public investment capital has yet to be disbursed in 2023; there was a year-on-year decrease in State budget revenue; and the handling of procedures for land auction took a lot of time.
Mr. Quang, therefore, urged relevant agencies to propose specific solutions to tackle the aforementioned issues of great concern.
Standing Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet pointed out a number of reasons and limitations, and set out a number of key tasks in the second quarter of 2023.
He remarked top priority should be given to implementing synchronously and effectively the tasks and solutions for the theme of 2023, with a focus on helping enterprises iron out difficulties in order to operate effectively in the city.
Special attention should be paid to promoting investment attraction, boosting the safe and sustainable development of the real estate market, maintaining economic growth, in which, tourism and services are identified as the driving force for the city’s economic growth, he added.
The city will continue to closely coordinate with central agencies to strive for early approval of the city plan for the 2021-2030 period with a vision towards 2050, as well as carry out projects on reconstructing and embellishing urban areas for the 2023-2030 period, and on developing logistics services effectively connecting the central key economic zone and the East-West Economic Corridor during the 2021-2030 period with a vision towards 2045, Mr. Triet noted.
