International visitors staying in Da Nang rise sharply

According to the Da Nang Department of Tourism, in the first quarter of 2023, the total number of visitors served by tourist accommodation establishments was estimated at 1.4 million, an increase of more than 4.6 times from the same period in 2022. Of this, international visitor numbers reached 391,600, 62 times higher than the same period last year whilst domestic visitor numbers stood at more than 1.03 million arrivals, 3.4 times higher than the year-ago period.

The accommodation, catering and travel revenue was estimated at VND 5,897 billion, up 1.9 times over the same period last year. In particular, travel revenue was recorded at more than VND 691.4 billion, up 6.3 times over the same period last year and up 29% over the same period in 2019.

Also in the first quarter, Da Nang welcomed 9 cruise ships carrying a combined total of 7,300 guests docked at the Tien Sa Port. A total of 16 regular international flight routes operated by 20 airlines, with an estimated frequency of more than 280 flights per week (average of 40 flights per day) brought more than 560,000 international tourists to the city.

In the coming time, the Da Nang Department of Tourism will continue to implement a flexible adaptation plan in tourism activities, and at the same time developing solutions to restore and develop Da Nang’s international tourist source markets and beefing up promotion and advertising activities in these markets.

In addition, relevant local agencies will develop a pilot plan to organise nigh-time tourism services on Nguyen Van Troi pedestrian bridge and a park on its eastern end and put Bach Dang - Tran Hung Dao pedestrian promenade on trial in the coming time.
