A worth-living city must be a good place to live, work and dedicate. In order to become a liveable city, Da Nang needs to be a leading destination with different and classy experience, as well as a nesting place for "eagles" - large economic corporations, and investors with large-scale and classy projects.

Assoc. Dr. Tran Dinh Thien, who is former Director of the Viet Nam Institute of Economics and a member of the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Group, shares those opinions with the Da Nang Newspaper.

According to Mr. Thien, Da Nang is known as a city of bridges as it boasts many amazing and unique bridges. This makes the city different from other localities across the country. Till date, Da Nang has done well in its mission to become a worth visiting place, but it needs to become a worth living place, attracting talented people to work and live.

Developing night-time economy, promoting comprehensive tourism development

In order to be both a top destination and a more livable place, Da Nang should pay special attention to luring more tourists by developing the night-time economy so as to encourage visitors to rise their spending during their stay periods in the city, he added.

The night economy mainly focuses on services to meet tourists’ needs for entertainment, shopping and high-class culture.

He also stresses the necessity for Da Nang to develop comprehensively tourism from sea, mountains, rivers and entertainment services to become one of top destinations in the country and in the world as a whole in the future.

He says Da Nang has many unique tourism products such as the annual Da Nang International Fireworks Festival, and the Sun World Ba Na Hills tourist area.

He, however, underlines a must-do for the city to renew even old tourist spots and create new experience in places that are already too familiar to visitors in a bid to keep visitors coming back for more.

Becoming a place to attract the talented

To become a liveable city, Da Nang needs to be a potential destination for talented people to live.

To do this, the central coastal city must be a smart city, and a digital city in the digital age, as well as must be oriented to become a hub for high-tech development and logistics port with small-sized city models developing dynamically within the existing city.

Assoc. Dr. Tran Dinh Thien highlights the need for Da Nang to promote investment attraction, and develop urban infrastructure commensurate with its potential and advantages, especially forming urban areas capable of attracting businesspeople, and teams of international experts to settle down and work in Da Nang for a long time.

Most notably, Da Nang needs to be a nest of great "eagles", especially those involved in travel, entertainment, technology and finance, thereby creating new development inspiration and new breakthroughs for the city.
