Da Nang seeks opportunities to cooperate with Japanese businesses on IT, environment
The Da Nang Young Entrepreneurs Association and Yokohama Urban Solution Alliance (YUSA) in Japan on Wednesday held an exchange meeting in the form of face-to-face and online about such issues as the environment, waste gas treatment, wastewater and information technology (IT). This is the third exchange between the two associations.
Mr. Le Hoang Phuc, the Deputy Director of the Da Nang Investment Promotion and Support Board said that Da Nang is organising many activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Viet Nam (1973 - 2023). This year also marks the 10th anniversary of Da Nang signing a cooperation agreement with Yokohama City (2013-2023).
Till date, Da Nang has attracted 980 foreign investment projects with a total investment capital of more than US$4.06 billion from 45 countries and territories worldwide. Japan Japan is the largest investor in Da Nang, with 228 projects worth US$1.04 billion in total, accounting for 25.6% of the total capital channeled into the city.
In the industry structure of Japanese enterprises in Da Nang, manufacturing enterprises account for the largest proportion with 29.4%. Japanese enterprises use modern, environmentally-friendly technology. Da Nang hopes that Yokahama City would continue to have many cooperation projects to develop green industry, high technology and IT.
As reported by the International Relations Department of Yokohama City, over the past time, the cooperation between Yokohama and Da Nang has achieved many positive results. It is expected that Yokohama would continue to support Da Nang with projects to reduce carbon emissions, develop policies and plans to introduce new techniques for energy saving, trial waste treatment at certain areas.
In the coming time, the Da Nang Young Entrepreneurs’ Association and YUSA will continue to support businesses of the two sides to connect with each other more deeply to reach more cooperation deals in the near future.
