In his remarks at the event, Consul General of Japan in Da Nang Yakabe Yoshinori said that recent years have seen a significant increase in the number of Vietnamese visitors to Japan.
In March, the Consulate General of Japan began to issue visas to holders of certificates of status of residence or official visas. However, it still takes time to start issuing short-term visas for tourist purposes. Mr. Yakabe Yoshinori wishes to be able to do this as soon as possible.
According to JNTO Deputy Chief Representative Uchida Shusuke, in order to develop large-scale Japanese tourism promotion campaigns, the unit is trying to promote Japanese tourism in Viet Nam and contribute to promoting tourism exchange activities between the two countries.
On July 12, JNTO signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Vietnam Airlines on promoting Japanese tourism.
The agreement aimed to help the two sides further promote the exchange of information and delegations. Also, the Japanese government decided on a new tourism strategy for the 2023-2025 period with three keywords ‘sustainable tourism’, ‘expanding consumption of foreign tourists’ and ‘local tourism promotion’.
JNTO Viet Nam office will base this strategy to come up with various plans with a target of bringing the number of Vietnamese tourists to Japan to 500,000, the same number of 2019 before COVID-19.
Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Tourism Nguyen Xuan Binh said that the Japanese tourist market is identified as a key market of Da Nang tourism with stable growth.
At the same time, he believed that tourism activities between localities of the two countries would continue to grow strongly in the coming time.
He suggested JNTO continue to coordinate, connect and exchange information; organise cultural exchange activities, festivals and events; and carry out promotional activities to survey the market and exchange visitor sources between destinations in order to support enterprises to develop their business.
