As reported at the event, the estimated value-added ratio of the digital economy to GDP in 2022 for the whole country is 14.26% (the annual growth rate is about 20%), of which the digital economy in information and communication technology (ICT) is the main contributing pillar with the contribution of 9.02% of GDP and the digital economy in other sectors and fields is 5.24%.

In the ICT digital economy, the production of hardware, electronic equipment and optics is contributing the most with 58.58%. Accordingly, Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hai Phong and Tra Vinh generated the highest revenue from information services activities. Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Noi, Da Nang, Bac Ninh and Khanh Hoa recorded the highest revenue from computer programming, consulting and computer-related activities. Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Lang Son, Phu Tho and Thua Thien Hue recorded the most digital economic activities in industries and fields.

In order to achieve the goal of the digital economy's value-added ratio accounting for 20% of GDP by 2025, it is estimated that the scale of the digital economy must grow at least 20% from now to 2025.

The Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications has proposed tasks and solutions, in which each key economic region forms at least one regional large data centre and one regional digital transformation centre, gathering digital businesses, developing and piloting digital solutions and digital products, fostering the region’s digital human resources.
