Accordingly, Da Nang topped the list, followed by Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Nha Trang. The remaining destinations are the southern metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City, the capital city of Ha Noi, Ha Long, Mui Ne, Da Lat, Phu Quoc, and Hoi An.

The beach is always the first choice of Vietnamese tourists when making travelling decisions, followed by big cities. This is also evident in the top 10 list with six out of the 10 names being the top coastal cities in the country.

This upcoming holiday break lasts for 4 days, from September 1 to 4, is the last of its kind of this year, Vietnamese tourists mainly need staycation (a portmanteau of “stay” and “vacation”) and drivecations (driving around to different and staying in a camping van, recreational vehicle or any vehicle deemed fit for family living) to locations not too far away from their homes.

Also according to Booking, with outbound tours, Vietnamese travellers tend to choose international destinations in Asia. In particular, Thailand and Singapore continue to be the most popular and top the list. The remaining destinations on the list with a check-in date from September 2 to 4 include Seoul (South Korea), Hong Kong (China), Tokyo (Japan), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and Chiang Mai (Thailand).
