The International East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC) Trade and Tourism Fair 2023 officially kicked off at the Da Nang International Exhibition Fair Centre, 9 Cach Mang Thang Tam Street, on Thursday evening.

The opening ceremony of the fair was attended by Mr. Vu Ba Phu, Director of Trade Promotion Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, representatives of Consulate General of foreign countries in Viet Nam and Da Nang, and Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong.

In his remarks at the opening ceremony of the event, Vice Chairman Tran Chi Cuong said that it was very honoured for the city to be selected by the Ministry of Industry and Trade as the locality to organise EWEC - Da Nang 2023 in the national program on trade promotion. Since 2007, the annual event has helped affirm the position and prestige of the international fair event in Da Nang.

He added that the fair provided an opportunity for international businesses and organisations to display their goods and services in order to introduce their products, seek investment partners and promote cooperation in many fields, thereby contributing to bringing practical benefits to the business community.

Visitors to the fair

It also offers a chance for participating countries and their localities, as well as international organisations that have set up relations with Da Nang, to promote their potential and strengths, and seek investment opportunities.

At the same time, it improves competitiveness and promotes the development of product value chains of the central coastal regions - Central Highlands and the whole country. Notably, the fair also features booths displaying and introducing products of 8 diplomatic missions in Viet Nam and Da Nang.

The fair is taking place from August 3 to 8 at Da Nang Exhibition Center, with more than 300 booths of 150 domestic and foreign enterprises.

On display at the fair are electronics, technological equipment, furniture, interior decoration, handicrafts, gifts, and consumer products such as food, beverages, textiles, fashion items, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, tourism services, logistics, education and healthcare.

Within the framework of EWEC - Da Nang 2023, there will be conferences and seminars to connect trade and support businesses to update new policies.
