Oakland City of the USA wants to foster its comprehensive cooperation with Da Nang in the coming time, Mayoress Sheng Thao affirmed at the Thursday seminar on introducing Da Nang tourism and investment environment to US businesses.

In her remarks at the seminar, Ms. Sheng Thao wished to promote the bilateral cooperation ties between the US and Viet Nam in general, and between Da Nang and Oakland in particular, in many fields.

Oakland and Da Nang reached an agreement on sustainable and comprehensive development in such fields as industry, commerce and service.

Mayoress Sheng Thao has affirmed the prospects for comprehensive cooperation with Da Nang.

Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Le Hoang Phuc, Deputy Director of the Investment Promotion and Support Agency briefed the attendees on the city’s investment opportunities, advantages and investment environment. Included were preferential policies for investors in Hi-Tech Park and industrial parks, as well as priority groups of industries such as information technology, communication, computer software, new material technology, nanotechnology, new energy; automation and precision mechanics, environmental technology, petrochemical service technology and some other special technologies.

He also guided the process and procedures related to registration and granting of investment licences for US enterprises.

Meanwhile, Director of the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center Nguyen Thi Hoai An introduced the participants about the city’s popular tourist destinations and cultural and culinary features.

According to statistics, in 2019, the number of US tourists staying in Da Nang accounted for 2% of the total number, and the number increased to over 5% in 2022. The extension of the duration for electronic visas from 30 days to 3 months will promote the development of the tourism industry in the near future.

Mr. Christopher Valoon, Chairman of the Da Nang branch of the American Chamber of Commerce in Da Nang (AmCham Da Nang), said that the city is promoting investment attraction in seaports and logistics. In addition, the city has the advantage of location, convenient infrastructure for moving from the city center to the Hi-Tech Park and other convenient locations. Along with that, Da Nang has a preferential tax-free policy in the first years, which will create great opportunities for US businesses to invest in Da Nang.

Christopher Valoon suggested that, in the coming time, Da Nang should focus on investing in healthcare services for the elderly when the extension of the duration for electronic visas will be an opportunity for the elderly from many countries to visit the city.
