At the working session, the General Director of the Da Nang Port Tran Le Tuan introduced the 122-year history of the Da Nang Port, which is currently the largest container seaport in the Central Viet Nam. This is a general port, both handling goods and welcoming cruise ships around the world.
The port boasts 1,700m of berths with the ability to receive general cargo ships of up to 70,000 DWT, container ships of up to 4,000 Teus and cruise ships of up to 170,000 GRT, along with modern loading and unloading equipment and warehousing.
Between 2020 and 2022, despite being heavily affected by Covid-19, the production and business indexes of Da Nang Port still grew significantly. The commodity growth rate over recent years reached 15% and the container cargo volume accounted for more than 60% of the total, with an average annual growth rate of 22%.
The sustainable growth over the past years has affirmed the position and stature of the Da Nang Port as a major seaport of Viet Nam, and positively contributed to the socio-economic development of Da Nang and Central Viet Nam and Central Highlands as a whole.

Ms. Sheng Thao expressed her deep impression on the dynamic development of the Da Nang Port and the whole city and highly appreciated the positive development and long-term relationship between the Port of Oakland and the Port of Da Nang over the past time.
It is known that, in 2006, the Port of Oakland and the Port of Da Nang signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the fields of management, exploitation, marketing, planning and construction investment, maritime transport security, and provision of services, training and capacity building in seaport engineering and operation, and other port-related activities.
Sheng Thao hopes that through this visit, leaders of the two ports will re-evaluate and concretize cooperation contents to effectively implement the memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides.
