The FPT Information System (FPT IS), a subsidiary of the FPT Group, opened a representative office and the R&D Center at the Massda Industrial Park in Da Nang’s Son Tra District, on Friday.

In his remarks at the ceremony, municipal People's Committee Chairman Ho Ky Minh acknowledged that, over the past nearly 20 years, FPT Group has created more than 6,000 jobs, and contributed up to 70% of the city's software export turnover. It is training 17,500 local students and building the FPT Technology Urban Area, software park and school system at all levels.

He pledged that Da Nang was always committed to creating the most favourable conditions for both domestic and foreign businesses to operate effectively, as well as continuing to propose to the Central Government additional mechanisms and policies to encourage investment for the development of financial, innovation start-up, and research and development centers.

Additionally, the city has been actively involved in researching investment support mechanisms and policies in the fields of high technology, information technology, digital transformation, supporting industry, high-class commercial centers and amusement parks, with socialisation mechanisms to appeal for investment from investors, Mr. Minh added.

In the next 3 years, the FPT IS's R&D Center sets a goal to have 500 human resources responsible for product development with 15 new product groups; and incubating new technology products that meet domestic and international markets.

It is known that FPT IS has a 30-year journey of contributing to the development of Viet Nam's economy. Experience gained through digital transformation projects with countries and customers in many key fields is the foundation for FPT IS to quickly anticipate the digital economic opportunity.

Notably, the establishment of an office and R&D Center in Da Nang is part of the company's orientation to move from a project business model to product development and platform one.

FPT Group also continues to affirm its commitment to strategic investment in developing information technology products and R&D services. FPT Group and FPT IS vow to accompany Da Nang to help it soon become the leading innovation and entrepreneurship center in the region.
