Speaking at the ceremony, municipal People’s Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh highlighted the strategic significance of the project in connecting the national road system with the seaport as well as completing the transportation network and promoting the development of the northern side of the city.
The city leader thanked relevant ministries and branches for their special attention, close coordination and enthusiastic support during the preparation of the project in accordance with the provisions of law so that the project can start on schedule.
He added the construction of the coastal road connecting Lien Chieu Port with the ongoing North-South expressway and the national railway route through the territory of Da Nang will create strategic, multi-modal access advantages for operating Lien Chieu Port, a special seaport in the future.
The road will meet the transport demand in the coming time, shorten the time to transport goods from the Lien Chieu Port to the national road network and vice versa. It will also minimise the negative impacts of transportation activities on the environment as well as ensure traffic safety in the locality.
The project also contributes to promoting development between the Lien Chieu Port Subdivision, industrial parks in the city and the Central Viet Nam and Central Highlands region, and the Lien Chieu Port.

The would-be route has a length of nearly 3km, a width of 30m and 6 lanes, allowing vehicles to run at a speed of 60km per hour.
The construction cost of the route is expected to be VND1,203 billion. More than VND700 billion of the figure will be funded by the city's budget capital in the medium-term public investment plan, whilst the rest will come from the national budget.
The project features main items such as the construction of grade-level overpass at the intersection at the beginning of the route with the North-South railway and Nguyen Van Cu Street (national highway 1A); the different level overpass at the intersection at the end of the route with the Hai Van - Tuy Loan bypass.
Also, a bridge crossing the canal according to the planning, and a new Lien Chieu Bridge, will be built.
The underground tunnel leading to Suoi Luong, and internal road tunnel in the Lien Chieu Industrial Park will be developed.
Also, heed will be on building technical infrastructure for power supply, lighting, trees, information cables, drainage and other auxiliary works.
