During the event, management agencies, experts and businesses made proposals to connect and share experience in promoting the development of the local supporting industry.

Mr. Le Hoai Duc, Director of the Huynh Duc Production, Trade and Services Company Limited, said that in recent times, the company has received a lot of support from the city such as loans with preferential interest rates at the city’s Development Investment Fund, and industrial promotion support policies.

However, many mechanical enterprises are still facing difficulties in terms of production space as well as lack of chain links for development. Therefore, they propose that the city needs to speed up the progress of industrial parks to attract more domestic and FDI investment.

Besides active support from management agencies, Mr. Duc believed that businesses also need to quickly grasp new technologies and develop digital transformation to improve competitiveness and management capacity.

Meanwhile, Mr. Do Huu Hao, Chairman of the Viet Nam General Mechanical Association, said that apart from the general policies issued by the Central Government, localities need to support a number of businesses in key industries such as automobiles, electricity, electronics, textiles, garments, and footwear to become regional-level corporations, thereby creating a spillover effect and leading supporting industry enterprises in the region to develop.

He underlined a must-do for Da Nang to build a database system, and link data and information about local businesses in the region, in order to have synchronous and smooth coordination in appropriate product investment and development.

Heed will be on issuing groundbreaking policies to create a start-up environment in the industrial sector, especially innovative start-ups, as well as innovating machinery and equipment lines and applying smart management models.

In particular, the city needs to prioritise creating land funds for businesses along with supportive policies on premises and taxes.

Meanwhile, Mr. Pham Tuan Anh, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry under the Ministry of Industry and Trade stressed the need for the city to promote the implementation of action programmes, strategies, projects and plans for the development of the city’s industries during the 2021-2030 period with a vision towards 2045.

In addition, Da Nang should pay attention to issuing more support mechanisms and policies or coordinating with central ministries and branches to help local businesses remove difficulties, he emphasised.

To concretise the work of developing supporting industries, the Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade, the Department of Industry under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Samsung Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd. has signed a Memorandum of Understanding to implement the smart factory development project for Vietnamese businesses in Da Nang and Central Viet Nam.

Mr. Choi Joo Ho, General Director of Samsung Vietnam, informed that the project aimed to improve the capacity of Vietnamese businesses in Da Nang through consulting on setting up smart factories and fostering high-quality human resources, thereby helping Vietnamese companies meet domestic demand and increase competitiveness in the global value chain.

Furthermore, the Da Nang Mechanical Association and the Ho Chi Minh City Mechanical and Electrical Business Association also signed a Memorandum of Understanding to provide active support for mechanical enterprises in the two localities.
