BIM application promoted in construction industry
On Saturday, the Da Nang Department of Construction organised a training course on applying Building Information Modeling (BIM) and boosting digital transformation in the construction industry for representatives of related State management agencies, associations, organisations, training facilities and businesses.

In his remarks at the programme, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Construction Tran Van Hoang highlighted the necessity of applying BIM in managing construction investment projects in order to improve management efficiency, reduce costs and increase accuracy in the design, construction and operation of construction projects.
He added the training course provided the opportunity for State management agencies, associations, organisations and businesses in the construction industry to approach, exchange experience, improve professional knowledge, and solve problems related to BIM, as well as prepare the necessary legal and professional knowledge to implement the roadmap for applying BIM according to Prime Minister’s Decision No. 258/QD-TTg dated March 17, 2023.
Since 2023, BIM application has been mandatory for level 1 and special level works of new construction projects using public investment capital and under the public-private partnership (PPP). Starting from 2025, BIM application will be mandatory for the preparatory works of construction investment projects at level 2 and over.
Mr. Tran Van Hoang also asked the municipal Department of Construction to encourage businesses and units to apply BIM in construction activities earlier than the above roadmap.
At the same time, he proposed the research team of the Da Nang University of Science and Technology carry out a research project to promote the application of BIM and digital transformation in the construction industry in the city in the 2023 -2024 period.
During the programme, lecturers from the Department of Project Management of the Da Nang University of Science and Technology, and engineers with experience in BIM applications, shared interesting topics such as industrial thinking 4.0 and digital transformation strategy in the construction industry; BIM and some applications; overview of BIM implementation standards and models for investors; and BIM application in design and application on actual projects.
