Within the framework of their ongoing business trip to the United States, a group of Da Nang officials led by Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang on Thursday morning (local time) paid a working visit to Synopsys Company headquartered in Mountain View, California, United States.

During his meeting with the Da Nang visitors, Mr. Rajiv Maheshaway, the Vice President of Business Development at the Synopsys Company briefed his guests on the latest technologies developed by the company.

As the world’s 15^th largest software company, Synopsys has a long history of being a global leader in electronic design automation (EDA) and semiconductor IP, and is also growing its leadership in software quality and security solutions. Synopsys is at the forefront of Smart Everything with the world’s most advanced technologies for chip design, verification, IP integration, and software security and quality testing. California-based Synopsis has about 20,000 employees and revenue in 2022 of approximately $5.5 billion.

Sharing with the Da Nang visitors, Synopsys leaders said that Synopsys identifies Viet Nam as one of its strategic investment destinations in Asia - Pacific.

During the 2020-2022 period, Synopsys Vietnam has opened 4 offices in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, attracting nearly 500 engineers in total.

Under the recent Memorandum of Cooperation signed between Synopsys and the Da Nang goverment, Synopsys pledged to support Da Nang to develop human resources for the semiconductor industry, as well as expand its cooperation in the semiconductor industry in the coming time.

Mr. Quang praised Synopsys for its proactive support in training semiconductor human resources, and improving their quality in Viet Nam, especially in Da Nang.

The Da Nang top leader hoped that signing of Memorandum of Understanding between the Da Nang government and Synopsys was considered to be the first step in implementing their cooperation programs in an extensive, comprehensive, and effective manner, in the future.

Mr Quang took the opportunity to ask for support from Synopsys to help the city build word-class certification programs for the semiconductor industry. In addition, Da Nang needs Synopsys’s assistance to establish a relationship with authorised organisations that grant IC Design Engineer Certifications, along with Synopsys partners in order to help Da Nang enjoy their preferential policies in evaluating and certifying the city's trained semiconductor engineers. Furthermore, Da Nang needs Synopsys’s support to offer free of charge to the city’s applicants for the company's certification exams.

Besides, Da Nang needs help with copyright support in order to allow it to use Synopsys’s advanced tools for chip design and testing in the city.

Mr. Quang pledged that the Da Nang government always creates the most favourable conditions for Synopsys to operate effectively in the city.

Also within the framework of their working visit to Synopsys Company, the Da Nang delegation visited Synopsys's Data Center located in Santa Clara on the same day.

On Thursday afternoon, the Da Nang delegation visited Marvell Company headquartered in Santa Clara, California. Trusted by the world’s leading technology companies for over 25 years, Marvell Company moves, stores, processes and secures the world’s data with semiconductor solutions designed for its customers’ current needs and future ambitions. Marvell Company ranked among the worldwide top 25 semiconductor companies.

During his visit to Marvell Company, Mr. Quang remarked that Da Nang is one of the few Vienamese localities that are eligible to participate in the Viet Nam Semiconductor Innovation Network, and the city is an active member of this network.

To leverage its strengths related to strategic geographical location that links with the regions of the country, synchronisation in transport and information technology networks, abundant, high-quality human resources, and peaceful living environment, Da Nang is giving high priority to creating a strategy for the development of the semiconductor industry with a focus on integrated circuit design, or IC design, and gradually developing the testing and packaging of semiconductor chips.

Mr. Quang hoped that Marvell Company would take advantage of experience and sucessful operations in Viet Nam over the past years, along with opportunities brought by the good political relations between the two countries in order to expand its supply and production chain into Da Nang.

During his meeting with the Da Nang guests, Mr. Mitchell L. Gaynor, the Chief Administration Officer of Marvell Company remarked that the company's leaders showed a keen interest in the semiconductor industry in Viet Nam.

Marvell Vietnam has been put into operation since 2013, and it has till date opened 2 offices in Ho Chi Minh City with around 300 employees in total. The number of Marvell Vietnam’s employees will increase to 500 in the near future.

Marvell Company leaders praised Da Nang for its great potential for the development of the semiconductor industry, and said they would visit Da Nang in January 2024 to conduct a survey with the aim of opening an office in the city.

Mr Quang applauded Marvell's decision of expanding its operations into Da Nang. He vowed that the city would create the most favorable conditions for the company to operate effectively in city for mutual interests and benefits.
