Da Nang strives to become startup innovation centre

The Da Nang Master Plan for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, has just been approved by the Prime Minister, determining that Da Nang will form a centre for entrepreneurship and innovation in the role of a major socio-economic centre of Viet Nam, and Southeast Asia.

Specifically, the plan sets a general goal that by 2030, Da Nang will become one of the major socio-economic hubs of Viet Nam and Southeast Asia as a centre of innovation, tourism, trade, finance, logistics, high-tech industry, information technology, supporting industry, one of the centres of culture - sports, education - training, high quality healthcare, science - technology development in the country, a centre of regional and international events, a seaport city, an international coastal urban area with the position as the nucleus of the urban chain and growth pole of the North Central Coast and Central Coast, the Northern Central Highlands, and reaching the level of the Asian region, an ecological, modern and smart urban, livable city with national defense, security and sovereignty over seas and islands firmly guaranteed.

With a regard to the direct development direction for the field of science, technology and innovation, focus will be on developing Da Nang into become one of the nation’s science and technology, startup and innovation centres, expanding and upgrading the Da Nang Biotechnology Centre to serve research and development in the South Central region, implementing the project ‘Da Nang - the City of Innovation’, developing components of a complete innovation startup ecosystem, focusing on technology incubation, innovation, and startups associated with hi-tech production, information technology and finance - bank.

For the plan to develop science and technology infrastructure, heed will be paid to prioritising resources for developing technical infrastructure in science and technology, startups, and innovation.

Relvant local agencies will accelerate the progress of projects such as a working and startup training area, the expansion of the Da Nang Biotechnology Centre to serve research and development in the South Central region, the development of incubators, shared workspaces, and service areas to support startups and innovation according to regulations, startup and innovation centres, startup working and training areas, business incubators and investment funds in the Hi-Tech and the Innovation subdivisions.

In addition, the city will continue to invest in modern, synchronous equipment for public service units, meeting the state management work in the city's science and technology sector, and the goal of regional linkages for development.
