Nguyen Van Troi pedestrian bridge to serve night tourism

The Da Nang government has directed relevant local agencies to soon implement a plan to pilot night tourism and services on Nguyen Van Troi Bridge in the first quarter of 2024. Accordingly, Nguyen Van Troi Bridge and a park at the eastern end of the bridge will become a night tourist site with many unique fun activities.

The Da Nang administration has issued an official dispatch agreeing on a pilot plan to organize services for night tourism on Nguyen Van Troi Bridge and a park at the foot of Nguyen Van Troi Bridge as proposed by the municipal Department of Tourism.

Under the plan, in Phase 1 (2024), a number of activities will be held in this area such as install lighting decorations to create check-in points, an exhibition of pictures and displays of specialized products/works periodically every quarter and on holidays and Tet; organise stage performances of ethnic music and lyrical music, street dance shows on Tran Hung Dao and Chuong Duong streets, flash mob events, yoga festivals, street art on Nguyen Van Troi Bridge, book and beer festivals in the park area.

At the same time, the city will organize community activities such as sports, fitness training, jogging, chess and painting competitions, walking tours, sightseeing and community activities, street music, events and festivals on Nguyen Van Troi Bridge; children's games; fast food services, take-away beverages and souvenirs.

In Phase 2, from the first quarter of 2025 to the end of 2028, the  city will continue to implement Phase 1 activities and renovate, upgrade and exploit tourism activities on Nguyen Van Troi Bridge and park on the eastern end of the bridge.

Accordingly, relevant agencies will organize street art performances such as portrait painting, magic, bubble shaping, aerobics, street music, business booths selling souvenirs, OCOP products, mobile carts/counters serving refreshments and fast food. Besides, there are special events and festivals periodically on weekends, holidays, and Tet at the northern and southern yards of the park on the eastern end of Nguyen Van Troi Bridge.

The municipal government has assigned the Son Tra District administration to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies to organise the implementation of the plan in accordance with regulations, develop detailed plans and roadmaps to ensure implementation on schedule and according to custom procedures. 

The municipal Department of Tourism will coordinate with the Son Tra District authorities to implement the plan and make reports to the Chairman of the municipal People's Committee on contents that need to be adjusted and supplemented in accordance with the actual situation.

The municipal Department of Culture and Sports is responsible for supporting and coordinating with reputable event organisers and specialized associations to organize cultural and artistic events to serve people and tourists.

Nguyen Van Troi Bridge is the first bridge across the Han River, put into use since 1965. By 2015, the control system and lifting span of the Nguyen Van Troi Bridge were renovated, installed and transferred the technology of control and monitoring system for lifting spans to serve navigation.

Nguyen Van Troi Bridge currently no longer has the function of operating traffic, instead it is a unique tourist bridge of Da Nang.
