Scale of Da Nang's economy in 2023 reaches over VND134,247 billion

Accordingly, the city’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in 2023 is estimated to increase by 2.58% compared to 2022, the overall increase for the whole year is lower than the average increase of 5.51%/year during the 2021-2023 period.
In particular, the service sector rose by 4.10%, contributing 2.85 percentage points to the overall GRDP increase. The forestry and fisheries sector went up 1.19%, contributing 0.02 points. Product tax minus product subsidies inched up by 1.18%, contributing 0.11 points.
The industrial and construction sector alone decreased by 2.05%, a decrease of 0.4 points, of which the industrial sector increased slightly by 0.33% and the construction sector continued to grow negatively by 8.36% against 2022.
The scale of the city's economy in 2023 at current prices is estimated to reach more than VND134,247 billion, expanding by VND9,728 billion compared to 2022.
Of which, the service sector expanded by VND8,923 billion, and agriculture, forestry and fisheries sector VND127 billion. Meanwhile, the industrial and construction sector shrunk by VND116 billion.
Regarding the structure of the economy's scale in 2023, the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sector accounts for 1.95% of the city’s total GRDP, the industrial and construction sector 18.50%, service sector 70.34%, and product taxes 9.21%.
As for the economic growth rate in 2023, Da Nang ranked 54th place amongst the 63 cities and provinces nationwide, fourth amongst the five provinces and cities in the central key economic zone, thirteen among the 14 provinces and cities in the North Central and South Central Coast regions, and the lowest place among the five centrally-governed cities.
With regard to GRDP scale, Da Nang continues to maintain the leading position among 5 localities in the central key economic zone, the 3rd place out of the 14 provinces and cities in the North Central and Central Coast regions, the fourth place among the five centrally governed cities, and 17th place among the 63 localities nationwide.
According to the report, in 2023, the total retail sales of consumer goods and services are estimated to hit VND127,000 billion, a rise of 16.8% compared to 2022. The number of guests served by accommodation establishments is likely to stand at 7.94 million, up 98.4%.
The consumer price index (CPI) in Da Nang in December 2023 decreased by 0.38% over the previous month, increasing by 2.65% over the same period last year.
The average CPI for the whole year 2023 is expected to increase by 5.08% compared to 2022, up 4.32% against 2022, the highest in the past 10 years since 2014.
The total import and export turnover of goods is estimated to reach US$3,015 million, down 16.2% compared to 2022, of which, merchandise exports are estimated at US$1,864 million, down 11.6%, whilst imported goods are predicted to be US$1,151 million, down 22.7%.
As of December 20, the preliminary total State budget revenue in the city reached VND19,715 billion, a decline of 14.8% compared to the same period in 2022, of which, central budget revenue generated US$5,150 billion, and local budget revenue VND14,565 billion.
During that period, the preliminary total state budget expenditure in the city hit VND25,035 billion, an increase of 5.0% compared to the same period in 2022. Of which, development investment expenditure reached VND8,585 billion, an increase of 1.0% over the same period in 2022, and regular spending activities reached VND16,408 billion, an increase of 6.9% over the same period in 2022.
The total implemented investment capital for the entire society in 2023 is estimated to reach VND30,962 billion, down 16.8% compared to 2022, of which the State sector's implementation is estimated at 9,844 billion VND, up 14.1%; non-state capital VND18,030 billion, down 21.9%; and the area with FDI capital VND3,088 billion, equal to 56.2% in 2022.
