The “Meet Da Nang 2024” was a good opportunity for participants to discuss and share multi-dimensional perspectives from governments, businesses, diplomats and international guests.

The statement was made by municipal People’s Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh at the opening ceremony of the programme held on Friday afternoon in the city.

In his opening speech, Chairman Chinh remarked that "Meeting Da Nang" programme was the city's first foreign affairs event in 2024. He also shared some of the city’s outstanding achievements in foreign affairs and international integration activities in 2023, which significantly contributed to enhancing the position and reputation of Da Nang in the world according to the mottoes ‘Proactive, Synchronous, Timely, Creative, Effective’ and ‘Connecting Da Nang to the world’.

He affirmed that economic diplomacy, political diplomacy and cultural diplomacy were always solid pillars in Da Nang's foreign affairs. The city’s cultural diplomacy policy focused on linking cultural integration with economic integration, tourism development and other fields.

Da Nang is the first locality in the country to issue the project on international integration and cooperation in Da Nang to 2030. The implementation of economic diplomacy activities is always innovative and creative. The city is always willing to welcome partners and investors, and create the most favourable conditions for them to invest and do business effectively, he noted.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang said that “Meet Da Nang” provided a good opportunity for Da Nang to introduce to participants its integration policy orientations and development priorities in the coming time. It was also a chance for the participants and partners to share multidimensional perspectives from governments, businesses, diplomats and international guests on the city's readiness as well as partners' expectations for the city in the coming time.

Last year, Da Nang overcame many difficulties and challenges to achieve positive socio-economic results. It can be said that Da Nang has proactively prepared infrastructure, human resources and mechanisms, as well as called for the participation of the entire city's political system to be ready to welcome a new wave of investment, she remarked.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang called on businesses and investors at both home and abroad to pay special attention to investing in Da Nang in the time ahead.

Held from January 25 - 27, the "Meet Da Nang" programme attracts around 250-300 domestic and international guests, international organisations, international cooperation agencies in Viet Nam, foreign non-governmental organisations, and foreign-invested enterprises invested by overseas Vietnamese in Viet Nam.

At the conference held on the afternoon of January 26, there were two thematic sessions on "Unlocking resources for international cooperation to promote socio-economic development" and "Da Nang is ready to welcome the new wave".

Notably, the signing ceremony of Memoranda of Understanding between the municipal People's Committee and the city's functional agencies, international organisations and large businesses took place during the event.
