Creating a brand impression
As the central area of the city with many favourable conditions for developing the service industry, Thanh Khe District has deployed the formation of specialised shopping streets suitable to the conditions and characteristics of each area.
Having done business on Nguyen Dinh Tuu Street specialising in selling flowers and ornamental plants for nearly 8 years, Mrs. Pham Thi Binh, the owner of Huong Phat Loc facility, said that all business establishments here maintained reputation and stabilise prices in order to create peace of mind for buyers. Thanks to that, the street attracts customers, including foreigners, all year round.
Mr. Vo Kim Tu, Head of the Economic Department of Thanh Khe District, informed that, up to now, 5 specialised business streets in the district have been in stable operation, creating their own brand to people and tourists.
However, besides the positive results, the streets are still operating moderately, the proportion of specialised goods is maintained but there has been no breakthrough.
In the coming time, Thanh Khe District will improve the operating quality of specialised trading streets in a civilised and modern direction, as well as build a nighttime food business street on Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, and a fashion and culinary street on Phan Thanh Street.
In Hai Chau District, the establishment of specialised culinary streets has left an impression on tourists from near and far.
Mr. Pham Tuan Vinh from Ha Noi enjoyed the food on Huynh Thuc Khang Breakfast Street during a trip to Da Nang in October 2022.
Just 2 months later, he decided to rent the premises and open an eatery to Ha Noi-style ‘bun cha’ (rice vermicelli with grilled pork and fresh herbs).
“After a year, the number of customers at the restaurant has remained stable. However, this street has a narrow roadway and small-sized shops, so it usually only welcomes individual customers and cannot welcome groups of visitors to experience the cuisine" Mr. Vinh shared.
Authorities in Hai Chau District have focused on organising training classes on commercial civilisation and sales skills to serve tourism for business households, as well as increase their checks and tighten the monitoring of food safety and hygiene.
In the coming time, Hai Chau District will upgrade and expand Huynh Thuc Khang Street in space and time, and turn it into a food street; and at the same time deploy the formation of a night market and tourist food street at K57 Nguyen Chi Thanh.
Decent development
In Son Tra District, many large-scale tourism events and festivals are regularly held on major roads such as Vo Nguyen Giap, Ho Nghinh, Pham Van Dong and Tran Hung Dao.
Authorities in Son Tra District are making efforts to promote specialised trading streets in the 2023-2025 period, including seafood food street east of Vo Nguyen Giap Street, and Ho Nghinh tourist service and shopping street.
Mr. Huynh Van Hung, Vice Chairman of Son Tra District People's Committee, underlined a must-do for the district to promote commercial activities, and the development of services and nighttime economy, in order to develop the locality into a key urban area for tourism, services, trade, finance and the marine economy.
In particular, the formation of specialised streets on major roads will create a highlight for tourism development, thereby helping the district become an attractive destination and bring a unique experience for visitors, and create urban and commercial civilisation and a new look for the locality.
According to the municipal Department of Industry and Trade, the operation of specialised trading streets in the city has significantly contributed to diversifying goods and services business activities, and meeting the sightseeing, entertainment and shopping needs of local residents and tourists.
In order to make the streets more unique and attractive, the municipal Department of Industry and Trade has completed a report about the current development status during the 2011-2020 period, and the orientations and solutions for developing commercial services and commercial infrastructure system in Da Nang for the 2021-2030 period with a vision towards 2050.
Accordingly, the development orientation of night markets and specialised streets is based on ensuring aesthetics, security and order, environmental hygiene, quality and attractiveness.
The city will select a number of areas where business facilities have been established to develop night markets and specialised streets on a trial basis.
