Accordingly, a total of 176 containers of imported goods were unloaded from the 21,355 DWT SITC HAINAN ship which had docked at the Tien Sa 3 Wharf over the New Year period.

After completing import procedures for the goods, the ship, with a carrying capacity of 1,808 TEUs, will transport 231 containers of export goods.

General Director of the Da Nang Port Tran Le Tuan said that all production and business indicators in 2023 increased by 5% compared to the previous year although the Vietnamese economy in general, and the Da Nang Port market in particular, continued facing many difficulties.

This was also a positive sign that the market of Da Nang, and that of the central region as a whole, promised great potential, he added.

In 2024, the Da Nang Port sets targets that its production and business indicators will go up 7%, and the average income of workers will rise by 3% against 2023.

It is known that in 2023, the Da Nang Port invested in one more QCC crane, 4 ERTG cranes, 2 overhead cranes and a series of other modern equipment in order to optimise its exploitation capacity.

Last year, work started on the 20ha Hoa Vang Logistics Centre project, and a large warehouse system, all serving the entire Central Viet Nam and Central Highlands regions.

Once completed, the centre will operate ICD-oriented logistics integrating bonded, customs, domestic, distribution and e-commerce warehouses, plus container yards.

The Da Nang Port is urgently completing the construction of the wharves Nos. 4 and 5 and will soon put them into operation in early 2024.

Heed will be on promoting the necessary procedures to soon participate in investing in the Lien Chieu Port project in the near future.

In addition, the focus will be on perfecting infrastructure, equipment, and logistics systems towards the goal of implementing the Door to Door service for Da Nang Port customers in 2024.

The Da Nang Port currently ranks 8th among the biggest taxpayers in the city. At the same time, the average import-export tax collection at the Tien Sa Port always grows over the years and accounts for over 80% of the total import-export tax collection of the entire city.
