Da Nang welcomes estimate of over 17,000 tourists on Lunar New Year's Day

On the morning of February 10, the first day of Lunar New Year (Tet) 2024, the Da Nang Department of Tourism, in coordination with the Da Nang International Airport, the Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company and airlines, organised a highly-inviting welcome ceremony for the first tourists of Tet 2024 arriving in the city.

This was an annual activity demonstrating the hospitality of the city’s tourism industry. As reported, at about 6:45 a.m., flight number VN628, operated by the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, departing from Don Mueang (Thailand), landed at the Da Nang International Airport.

Upon their disembarkation, visitors were warmly and enthusiastically welcomed with a lion dance performance and the city's specialty gifts, and treated with ‘Early Spring Festival’ art programme. Also, gifts of vouchers for trips to Da Nang’s highly-popular were given to these special tourists.

In particular, 3 lucky guests on the flight received round-trip air tickets for a Don Mueang - Da Nang flight operated by Vietnam Airlines, along with the city's tourism products.

Immediately after that, the city's tourism industry held a reception for domestic tourists on Vietnam Airlines-operated flight VN157 from Ha Noi to Da Nang and Starlux Airlines-operated flight JX701 from Taipei (Taiwan, China) to Da Nang.

According to Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism Tan Van Vuong, welcoming the first flights at the beginning of the Year of the Dragon 2024 is a positive signal, it is expected that the city’s tourism will increasingly flourish and continue to grow strongly in the Lunar New Year.

On the first day of Tet, the Da Nang International Airport is highly expected to welcome more than 125 domestic and international flights carrying a total of more than 17,000 visitors to Da Nang. In particular, there will be 53 international flights with an estimate of about 7,500 passengers in total.

It is expected that the total number of domestic and international flights to Da Nang during the 7 days of Tet 2024 holiday break, from February 8 to 14, is estimated to reach 894 flights, an increase of 16% over the same period last year.
