Within the framework of their ongoing working trip to the US, a delegation of Da Nang’s officials, led by municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh, visited the Qualcomm Incorporated headquartered in San Diego City, California, on March 1 (local time).

This was the second specific cooperation activity between Da Nang and Qualcomm after the direct visit and survey in Da Nang on January 11, 2024 made by Mrs. An Chen, Vice President of Engineering at Qualcomm.

The Da Nang delegation informed leaders of Qualcomm that the city has been developing two specific policy resolutions to attract overseas Vietnamese intellectuals in the semiconductor industry to transfer knowledge and technology to relevant parties of the city. Also, the city has been paying special attention to issuing a policy resolution to support trainees and learners about semiconductor and microchip professions.

The city established the Da Nang Semiconductor and Artificial Intelligence Centre for Research and Training (DSAC) in early 2024 to prepare resources to work with businesses and investors to promote the development of these fields in the city.

In addition, the infrastructure development of the Software Park No. 2 is being completed and will be put into use soon.

The alliance of universities, including the University of Science and Technology, the Viet Nam-Korean University of Information and Communications Technology, the University of Technical Education, the Duy Tan University and the FPT University Da Nang has been established to strengthen cooperation in training human resources in Integrated circuit (IC) design and artificial intelligence (AI) for the city.

Through discussion, Qualcomm showed its keen interest in researching investment in Da Nang. as for Da Nang side, the city pledged to provide maximum support, and at the same time, expressed its desire to cooperate with Qualcomm Academy to deploy a number of short-term training courses associated with Qualcomm certification for human resources in Da Nang.

During the meeting, the two sides also agreed to organise competitions to seek talents and roll out solutions for innovation challenges in the field of IC design in the near future.
