Solutions needed to improve industrial promotion effectiveness
Thanks to industrial promotion programmes, businesses and rural industrial production facilities across Da Nang are facilitated to expand production scale, invest in machinery, improve product quality, and enhance competitiveness in the market. However, the city’s industry and trade sector is in need of additional policies and solutions to help businesses access the programme more effectively.

Many difficulties need to be resolved
According to Mrs. Mai Thi Y Nhi, Director of the My Phuong Food Company Limited based in Hoa Son Commune, Hoa Vang District, the city’s preferential and support policies have brought practical effects such as making a difference to bring quality products to the domestic and export markets, and solving outstanding problems affecting the development of the business.
By participating in the industrial promotion programme, the company received nearly VND500 million in funding to invest in machinery and equipment. Also, it is facilitated to promote and introduce products at annual trade promotion events at both home and abroad.
In 2023, the company's Top Coco baked coconut cake was recognised as a 5-star potential OCOP product, and a typical rural industrial product in Da Nang, and was proposed to participate in regional voting.
“More than 70% of the company's total revenue is based on consuming products to serve tourists. With the current speed of development, we intend to expand production scale as well as premises, so we need the support from the city government, the local industry and trade sector, and related units to remove difficulties", Ms. Nhi share.
Similarly, Ms. Nguyen Thi Dung, Director of the Adeva Noni Natural Products Company Limited, said she is facing difficulties in investing and expanding production area.
In Da Nang, due to the limited space, the company focuses on producing natural cosmetics. Meanwhile, food products are transported to Quang Nam Province to produce.
To meet strict medical standards in the cosmetics industry, it is necessary to expand production areas. On the other hand, the company is producing an herbal toothpaste that has received very positive feedback and reviews from tourists.
However, some products lack uniformity in form because the company is not able to fully invest in production machinery. Therefore, the company is eager to receive support from the city's industrial promotion programmes so that its products become more and more perfect and developed.
Mr. Ho Duc Tien, Director of the Mayaca Coffee Company Limited in Hoa Minh Ward, Lien Chieu District, said that in 2023, the company was one of the nine businesses and establishments in the city to receive nearly VND180 million in funding from the city’s industrial promotion programme in phase 1-2023 to invest in machinery.
This was an opportunity for the company to improve technology, develop products and improve competitiveness in the market.
Faced with practical difficulties, Mr. Tien hopes to receive other support from the industrial promotion programme and also proposes to increase the level of support funding and investment in machinery to have opportunities to access and benefit from the policy.
Meanwhile, Ms. Nguyen Thi My Lien, Director of the Chau Thong Production - Trading and Services Company Limited, located in Tan Chinh Ward, Thanh Khe District, highlighted the significance of promoting products in many forms and platforms, especially on e-commerce platforms and social network sites.
Therefore, the company really needs the companionship of the city, the local industry and trade sector and localities in researching supportive communication solutions to promote the development of the city in an effective and sustainable manner.
Improve the effectiveness of industrial promotion programmes
During the 2020-2023 period, the municipal Department of Industry and Trade has completed the implementation of 3 projects with a total budget of more than VND6.3 billion, including VND1.25 billion from the national industrial promotion budget.
For local industrial promotion activities, the department has implemented industrial promotion activities and developed the production of souvenir products in the city at a total cost of over VND25 billion.
Accordingly, the focus has been on supporting 26 projects to support the application of advanced machinery and equipment in industrial and handicraft production for 34 establishments; 2 pilot models applying cleaner production in industry; and 4 consulting projects to evaluate cleaner production in industry for 12 businesses.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Mai, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said that the city has issued many resolutions and policies to encourage industry and support businesses to show greater interest in manufacturing enterprises in Da Nang.
OCOP and typical rural industries products in industrial promotion programmes are mostly introduced and selected as gifts at many important events.
In 2024 and the years to come, the municipal Department of Industry and Trade will continue to advise the People's Committee and People's Council to consider increasing the level of support in order to donate additional resources and attract businesses to participate.
