According to the Import-Export Department under the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade, Viet Nam's rice industry has had outstanding growth and strong transformation in rice production and export, expanding the market, enhancing the position of Vietnamese rice in more than 180 countries and territories all over the world. In 2023, rice export turnover reached US$4.78 billion, up 36.6% over the previous year and reaching the highest export level in many years.

In 2024, it is forecast that rice prices will increase due to tight supply. The rice market is expected to continue to tighten due to India's export restrictions and the negative impacts of the El Nino weather phenomenon on main rice growing areas. This is a great opportunity and challenge for Vietnamese industry and businesses.
