Da Nang dwellers play role as 'ambassadors' of tourism

As reported on a social network account, postal worker in Da Nang recently accidentally dropped the package containing 30 passports while he was on the way to make a delivery. These passports belong to a group of Vietnamese tourists who plan to travel to Japan. Posts about this issue attracted a huge amount of reactions and was shared in the most popular Facebook fanpages and groups in Da Nang.

Fortunately, a resident found the 30 passports. The fact that hundreds of people joined forces to support the spread of information shows the enthusiasm of Da Nang people as well as the image of a safe destination for tourists.

Previously, there was a case under which an Indian tourist suddenly suffered cardiac arrest while having dinner at a restaurant. Fortunately, he received timely first aid assistance from a female Vietnamese tourist who was present here at this critical time. She was a nurse, enjoying Da Nang trip.

Immediately afterwards, the Da Nang Department of Tourism sent a thank you letter and awarded a certificate of merit to the female tourist in recognition of her noble deed. The professionalism of such a medical practitioner not only saved the foreign tourist but also helped promote the beautiful image of the country and people of Viet Nam, and Da Nang’s image in particular.

In early 2024, a husband and wife working as urban environmental workers picked up two wallets that two American tourists unintentionally left. The wallets contained important identification documents and cash.

In a prompt fashion, two workers coordinated with relevant units to return these belongings to their owners who had left Viet Nam for another country. Upon receiving information from the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Centre that they their lost wallets were recovered, the two tourists were very impressed by the enthusiasm and thoughtfulness of the Da Nang people. The Da Nang Department of Tourism also quickly awarded certificates of merit to the two environmental workers for their meaningful gesture.  

As a unit that regularly receives appeals for support from tourists, in the first quarter of 2024, the Da Nang Tourist Support Centre received 17,900 visitors at the office and information counters at the Da Nang International Airport, handled 1,910 calls, 90 emails, 450 messages from visitors via social networking applications.

The tourists needed pieces of advice mainly related to information about ticket prices for tourist attractions, special programmes, festivals, and events in the city, the time when the Rong (Dragon) Bridge squirted fire and water, and handled about 80 cases of lost luggage, phones and identification documents.

A destination attracts tourists not only because of its landscapes, landscapes, entertainment services, but also its tourism environment and human factors. Therefore, ensuring the tourism environment is always the top priority. These good things really make tourists feel secure and confident when travelling to Da Nang, and even want to make comeback. It can be seen that the success of a tourist city stems from many factors, but the sometimes seemingly small actions made by each individual as mentioned above have contributed to building the city's brand.

Da Nang is starting to enter the peak summer tourist season with many impressive programmes, activities, and products. The tourism industry target set in 2024 is to reach 8.42 million visitors.

To ensure safety for local residents and tourists, the city's tourism industry always strengthens inspections so that tourism activities are taken in a healthy vibe, in accordance with regulations, and at the same time, guiding tourism service business units to ensure service quality safety, service quality towards high quality standards, and build up the leading tourist destination brand.

In that common goal and mission, Da Nang people play an important role by becoming tourism ‘ambassadors’, helping to promote and spread the image of a friendly and safe destination for tourists.
