Da Nang attends 2024 Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity

Representatives of the Da Nang People's Committee Office attended the 2024 Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity in South Korea from May 29 - 31 at the invitation of the forum organizers.

During the forum, participating delegates highlighted the importance of local-level diplomacy in promoting international cooperation for peace and prosperity.

Under the theme of "Acting Together for a Better World", the event called for initiatives to enhance connections and exchanges, and learn from experiences between localities. It also strengthened cultural exchanges to understand each other better and create trust towards economic cooperation.

The US Ambassador to Viet Nam said that since the upgrade of the Viet Nam - US relations to the comprehensive strategic partnership, Vietnamese and US localities have proactively boosted the establishment of their bilateral cooperative relations. The ambassador emphasised the role and proactiveness of Da Nang in the process of promoting cooperation with US partners in various spheres.

Sharing about the cooperative ties between ASEAN localities and Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, Mr. Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary-General of ASEAN, highly praised the South Korean locality for strongly fostering relations with member countries in ASEAN, a dynamic economic region of the world.

In the near future, Jeju will promote the opening of flight routes connecting with ASEAN localities to boost the development of economy and tourism.

In his introduction, Professor Eunjung Lim from the Kongju National University based in South Korea informed about Jeju's carbon neutral and clean energy transition strategy, and at the same time called on cooperative initiatives of ASEAN member nations in this field.

Also at the forum, a representative of Da Nang introduced to delegates four areas of cooperation between the two localities, including tourism, trade and investment, agriculture, fisheries, and other fields.
