Da Nang attracts wedding tourists

The Da Nang Department of Tourism organised a wedding tourism development conference with the participation of international wedding event organisers, and at the same time welcomed an international wedding travel famtrip group to Da Nang from June 5 to June 9.

At the event, the Department of Tourism announced a plan to develop wedding tourism and a pilot programme to attract wedding tourists to Da Nang in the 2024 - 2025 period with the message ‘Da Nang - Where happiness begins’. This is one of the stimulus activities to attract tourists to Da Nang in the 2024 - 2025 period, applicable to tourist weddings of 50 guests or more held at hotels and resorts in Da Nang. Da Nang has a party scale and a number of rooms that meet the specified conditions, and depending on the number of guests, there are different levels of support.

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism Nguyen Thi Hoai An, the city is orienting to develop a professional wedding destination with attentive services, with travel programmes for relatives and friends of couples combined with experience at famous tourist spots in Da Nang. With the message ‘Da Nang - Where happiness begins’, the city wants to introduce tourists and couples to the beauty of Da Nang as a place to meet, date and mark beautiful stories not only for couples but also their relatives and friends attending their wedding parties in Da Nang.

According to Speaker Lisa Viegas, Director of the Destination Wedding Planners Congress (DWP Congress), the wedding tourism market is currently worth an estimated US$ 90 billion. Since 2022, the Asia-Pacific region has contributed significantly to the global wedding market with 40.52%, an annual growth rate of 16.48%. Along with Indonesia, Thailand, Maldives, and India, Viet Nam has emerged as an attractive wedding destination in this region. In the first 5 months of 2024, four Indian couples organised their wedding parties in Da Nang with more than 1,200 guests, and more than 26 other Indian couples have showed interest in choosing Da Nang as a place for their important events.
