Da Nang's index ranked fourth in the Viet Nam Viet Nam E-Business Index (EBI) 2024 with 47 points, the Viet Nam E-commerce Association (VECOM) recently announced.

In the ranking 2024, the southern metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City secured its top position with 87 points, followed by the capital city of Ha Noi with 84.3 points and southern Binh Duong Province with 51 points.

EBI was based on three sub-indexes, namely information technology human resources and infrastructure, business-to-consumer (B2C) e-commerce, and business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce. The sub-indexes were compiled on the basis of many reliable data sources, VECOM said.

The average point of this year's index is 23.1.

In particular, this year's report emphasises the issue of plastic waste from e-business to call on organisations and businesses to reduce negative impacts on the environment, contributing to promoting sustainable development of e-commerce.

The report continues to point out the need to implement policies and solutions to address three major issues, including the digital divide, digital human resources and the environment.

In addition, the report also recommends that state management agencies evaluate the current status and promulgate policies and laws to promote online export activities, educational technology and medical technology.
