Working group to promote cooperation between Da Nang and the US launched
A working group to promote cooperation between Da Nang and the US debuted in the central coastal city on Tuesday.

In attendance at the launching ceremony were US Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Susan Burns, Permanent Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Ho Ky Minh, and leaders of departments, agencies and branches.
As for Da Nang side, Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh and Director of the municipal Department of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Xuan Binh are appointed Head and Deputy Head of the working group. Representatives of Departments of Finance, Planning and Investment, Information and Communications, and Science and Technology; the Da Nang Investment Promotion and Support Board; the High-Tech Park and Industrial Parks; and the Da Nang Institute for Socio-Economic Development Research are members.
On the US side, US Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Susan Burns serves as Head of the working group, and Head of the Political Department as Deputy Head of the working group. The members are Heads of the Economic Department; Office Director; Foreign Attaché; and Representative of AmCham Da Nang.
The working group is tasked with advising the Da Nang People's Committee to coordinate with the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City to promote cooperative activities between Da Nang and US partners.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh said that the launching of the working group marked a new step forward in cooperative relationship between the two parties.
On the basis of the Viet Nam - US comprehensive strategic partnership, the cooperative relations between Da Nang and US partners have been recording fine development in such spheres as economics, culture, education, science and technology.
He remarked, in recent years, the US has always been an important partner of Da Nang in the fields of investment, trade, education and training. Also, official development assistance (ODA) and US non-governmental organization (NGO) projects have been implemented effectively in Da Nang, contributing to boosting the local socio-economic development.

The establishment of the working group demonstrated the desire of both sides to promote cooperation, exchange information and experience, and create favourable conditions for enterprises to invest and do business, thereby contributing to deepening the cooperation and friendship relations between Da Nang and the US, especially in the fields of human resource development, investment promotion, and semiconductor, digital economy, green growth, and sustainable development, he added.
Mr. Minh also highlighted the vital role of the working group in connecting and supporting Da Nang and US businesses to overcome their difficulties and obstacles in the coming time.
The city leader believed that the working group will operate effectively, making an important contribution to promoting cooperation between Da Nang and the US, and bringing practical benefits to the people and businesses of the two sides, in the years ahead.
Immediately after the launching ceremony, the working group discussed items related to “human resource development - education - training" and "Developing hi-tech, innovation, semiconductor industry, digital economy".
