Da Nang develops tourism towards western side
In recent years, Da Nang has boosted the investment and exploitation of tourism potential in its western side. However, to optimise advantages of natural resources and cultural heritage of the western lands, the city, the local tourism industry and relevant units need to make quality tourism products and appropriate mechanisms for the further development of eco-tourism, and community-based tourism.

Forming many quality destinations
According to the latest statistics, in 2024, the number of visitor arrivals to the Sun World Ba Na Hills is expected to increase by 14% compared to 2023, of which that of international tourist will go up about 13%.
The positive results were mainly attributed to the tourist site’s continuous efforts in renewing its appearance and launching new products and services, thereby elevating visitors’ experience. In particular, a series of new shows and tourism products such as Fairy Blossom and Cabaret Plus have been put into operation.
Additionally, amazing art shows with the participation of the world's top magicians, circus artists, dancers, and contortionists contributed to enhancing the experience for visitors to Da Nang during the fireworks season.
Meanwhile, the Nui Than Tai Hot Springs Park tourist area is likely to welcome more than 800,000 domestic and international visitors in 2024, maximising the potential of the tourist markets from such Southeast Asian countries as Thailand, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore or the Western European nations for entertainment and relaxation.
In recent times, Hoa Vang District has promoted the development of eco-tourism, agritourism, and community-based tourism by taking advantage of many concentrated agricultural production areas and hi-tech agricultural areas combined with natural landscapes.
Up to now, a number of new service and tourism models have been formed in the district such as tourism services combined with the development of agriculture, forestry and aquaculture, and community-based ecotourism.
Many models have been operating stably, with total revenue from the opening time to August 2024 of more than VND 10.83 billion. In particular, Banarita Glamping Farm, An Phu Farm, Nam Yen Valley Vineyard, Ben Nam Yen and Hestia Farm have begun to attract visitors and experiencers.
In the northwest of the city, the People's Committee of Lien Chieu District has been calling on investors at both home and abroad to exploit the potential and advantages of the sea space. Thanks to that, many attractive tourist destinations are gradually forming, in which, the 5-star high-class resort and entertainment complex Mikazuki Hotel & Spa Resort has become a favourite destination for relaxation, entertainment and the organisation of events and conferences.
In addition, the Nam O eco-tourism area and Nam O community-based tourism development project have been and are being completed, creating momentum for tourism development of the district in particular and the west of the city in general.

Continue to exploit potential
According to Vice Chairman of Lien Chieu District People's Committee Nguyen Nhuong, as one of the localities rich in tourism resources with a system of rivers, streams, mountains, seas and natural landscapes associated with cultural and historical relic values, Lien Chieu District has great potential for developing tourism in the northwest of the city. However, the district does not have many unique tourism products and tourism services.
In 2024, the Da Nang administration gave a green light for the Western Ecological Sub-Zone Planning Project belonging to Hoa Hiep Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District. The project to develop inland waterway tourism in Da Nang until 2030, with a vision to 2045, approved by the People's Committee in Decision No. 2963/QD-UBND dated December 29, 2023, determines to develop inland waterway tourism in Lien Chieu District in the 2024-2030 period. This is a favorable condition for tourism development in the area in the coming time.
After Da Nang and Thua Thien Hue Province agree on the management plan, the Lien Chieu District People's Committee will actively coordinate with the competent authorities of Thua Thien Hue Province to jointly manage and exploit Hai Van Gate relic. The district authorities hope that the city's leaders will continue to call for investment in Lien Chieu, and exploit the potential and advantages of the local sea space, so as to continue to form high-class coastal entertainment, recreation and resort areas, making Lien Chieu an attractive, high-quality tourist destination.
Vice Chairman of Hoa Vang District People's Committee Nguyen Thuc Dung also shared that the development of eco-tourism, agritourism, and community-based tourism in the district encountered some difficulties when implementing the pilot programme related to overnight stays, land use, etc.
Therefore, authorities in Hoa Vang District proposed that the city adjust the permission to organize accommodation activities at the existing agricultural tourism models so that tourist destinations can provide multiple services according to the needs of visitors and help investors have better revenue.
