Within the framework of the forum "Free Trade Zone - New driving force for the development of Da Nang's logistics industry" held in the city on Thursday, the Steering Committee for Logistics Development was officially launched.

Previously, on September 12, 2023, the municipal People's Committee issued Decision No. 1971/QD-UBND on the establishment of the Steering Committee for Logistics Development in the city.

Accordingly, Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong is appointed the Head of the Committee, and Director of the Department of Industry and Trade Le Thi Kim Phuong is the Standing Deputy Head.

The Steering Committee is responsible for advising and assisting the People's Committee in coordinating activities related to logistics development, developing plans, and implementing logistics activities according to the Prime Minister's directives.

It also undertakes the task of advising on the effective implementation of the project "Developing logistics services in Da Nang to effectively connect with the Central Key Economic Zone and the East-West Economic Corridor for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050".

According to the decision, the municipal Department of Industry and Trade is assigned to act as the standing agency of the Steering Committee, and to coordinate with relevant agencies, organisations and units to help the Steering Committee synthesise, evaluate and report on the implementation situation and results.

Most recently, the People's Committee issued Decision No. 2117/QD-UBND dated October 2, 2024 on the establishment of a working group to deploy the establishment of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone. Accordingly, the Head of the Working Group is Vice Chairman Tran Chi Cuong, and the Standing Deputy Head is Director Le Thi Kim Phuong.

The working group is in charge of advising the municipal People's Committee to establish and submit to the competent authority to issue a decision on establishing the Da Nang Free Trade Zone.

The Department of Industry and Trade is the standing agency of the working group and is responsible for monitoring, synthesising and reporting on the implementation of the tasks of the working group at the request of the team leader and competent authorities.
