The Viet Health International JSC under VBN Group and the Mekostem Stem Cell Bank signed a cooperation agreement on spreading the value of applying biotechnology in medicine in Da Nang on Saturday.

The signing aimed to affirm the essential role of biotechnology in treating chronic diseases and open up new opportunities for millions of Vietnamese people to access modern medical solutions.

According to the Mekostem Stem Cell Bank, umbilical cord blood banking and underscores, as well as the application of biotechnology, are becoming pioneering solutions, contributing to bringing new hope to patients facing diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer. However, developing this technology also faces many challenges, from in-depth research to widespread implementation of practical applications.

The signing ceremony between the Mekostem Stem Cell Bank (a pioneer in cell storage in Viet Nam) and the Viet Health International JSC (a pioneer in providing consulting services and comprehensive health care solutions) contributed to spreading humanistic values, and improving the quality of life and health of Vietnamese people.

The Mekostem Stem Cell Bank has achieved AABB international certification 3 times in a row for the entire process from collection, processing, preservation to distribution. This is the first unit to cooperate with maternity hospitals nationwide to provide stem cell storage services for pregnant women as "biological insurance". At the same time, it is the first unit to successfully treat thalassemia by umbilical cord blood transplantation.

Currently, the Mekostem Stem Cell Bank stores about 11,000 blood samples and 9,000 membrane/tissue samples, and develops research products on umbilical cord blood plasma and mesenchymal stem cells from umbilical cord tissue in disease treatment.
