Da Nang Software Park No. 2 comes into operation
The Da Nang People's Committee held a ceremony on Thursday to announce the decision to expand and open the Da Nang Software Park No. 2 on Nhu Nguyet Street, Thuan Phuoc Ward, Hai Chau District.
In attendance at the event were Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh, and Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Bui Hoang Phuong. On the local side, there was presence of Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Vinh, Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Le Trung Chinh, and Chairman of the local People's Council Ngo Xuan Thang.

In his opening speech delivered at the ceremony, Chairman Le Trung Chinh said that since the 2000s, information technology (IT) has been identified as a priority and spearhead sector for the city's development through Resolution No. 07-NQ/TU dated October 3, 2000 of the Standing Committee of the municipal Party Committee on a number of policies for software industry development and Resolution No. 06-NQ/TU dated March 12, 2003 on promoting the application and development of information technology.
Also, the city has invested in the construction of the Da Nang Software Park - the first model in the development of the city's IT industry.
The Da Nang Software Park was put into use in October 2008 and was recognised by the Prime Minister as a concentrated IT Zone in 2017.

With the effective use of public investment capital and land, this is a model demonstrating the city's correct strategy and policy in developing the IT industry into a spearhead economic sector.
Following the success of the Da Nang Software Park model, in order to approach the trend of the 4th industrial revolution and concretise the policy of the Politburo in Resolution No. 43-NQ/TW dated January 24, 2019 on building and developing Da Nang to 2030, with a vision to 2045, with a strategy of shifting from processing to making information technology products and services, and shifting the city's economic structure towards a digital economy, the city has implemented planning procedures and selected investors to build the Software Park No. 2.
The Software Park No. 2 Project features buildings ICT1, ICT2 and ICT with a total land area of 2.8 hectares, and a total construction floor area of more than 92,000 m2, expected to attract 6,000 employees.

On February 1, 2024, the Central Government issued Decree No. 09/2024/ND-CP amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree No. 144/2016/ND-CP and the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1238/QD-TTg dated October 22, 2024 to expand the Da Nang Software Park No. 2. The purpose is to create a legal corridor for continued investment for the Software Park No. 2.
The municipal People's Council continued to allocate public investment capital, raising the total investment of the project to nearly VND 1,400 billion, accelerating the completion of the Software Park No. 2.
With the strong direction of the central government leaders, the attention, support and guidance of the central ministries and branches, along with the great determination of the Party Committee, government and people of Da Nang, the Software Park No. 2 project has been basically completed.

Today, the 8-storey ICT1 Building of the Da Nang Software Park No. 2, with total construction floor area of over 39,000m2 and exploitation area of 21,000m2, was put into use, in which priority was given to strategic partners and investors, small businesses and startup enterprises in the semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI) industries.
Currently, more than 30 businesses have registered their demand for office space at the ICT1 Building with a total registered area of about 25,000m2, exceeding the rental area of ICT1 Building.
Thus, after more than 15 years of efforts and determination, Da Nang has so far continued to form another software park, the whole city currently has 4 concentrated IT parks, along with the IT zones under planning and construction, promoting the shift in the city's economic structure.

From a software outsourcing location in the early 2000s with a processing ratio of more than 80%, the city has now shifted to developing the production of IT products and services, with the processing ratio dropping to below 40%.
The proportion of the digital economy in 2023 accounted for 20.69% of the city's GRDP, exceeding the target set for 2025 of 20%. Da Nang is gradually positioning its brand on the IT map of Viet Nam and the world.

The Da Nang Software Park Concentrated IT Zone is identified as a driving force and key project to realise the policies and orientations of the Politburo in Conclusion No. 79-KL/TW dated May 13, 2024, continuing to implement Resolution No. 43-NQ/TW and Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15 dated June 26, 2024 of the National Assembly on organising the urban government model and piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of the city. In particular, Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation promotes new and modern production methods, focusing on new key areas such as semiconductors, AI, blockchain, and financial technology (fintech).
The country is entering a new era. The Party Committee, government and people of Da Nang will make efforts to become an important core of this new era, contributing to the successful implementation of the country's strategic goals.

Also at the ceremony, Director of the municipal Department of Information and Communications Industry Nguyen Khac Lich announced Decision No. 1238/QD-TTg dated October 22, 2024 of the Prime Minister on expanding the Da Nang Software Park No. 2.
Accordingly, the expansion part of the Da Nang Software Park (Nos. 2 and 15 Quang Trung Street in Thach Thang Ward) is the Da Nang Software Park No. 2 which covers a total land area of 28,573 m2 in Thuan Phuoc Ward, Hai Chau District.

On the occasion, Memoranda of Understanding were signed between Da Nang and partners in semiconductors and AI industries according to Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15. Specifically, the partners are Marvell Vietnam Co., Ltd., the FPT Corporation, and the Sovico Group Corporation.
